HERSHEY — Last year, Warrior Run’s Reagan Milheim suffered a loss in the first-place final at 160 pounds in the PIAA Class AA wrestling championships. Following that final loss, Milheim was determined to get back to the state final.
Milheim fulfilled that part of his goal, but fell just shy of the ultimate goal of winning a gold medal at the Giant Center in Hershey on Saturday. The Defender senior wrestled well and aggressive, but fell just shy against Bishop McCort’s Melvin Miller by decision in an extremely close contest, 5-4.
The loss is the second consecutive silver medal for Milheim at the state tournament. Milheim ends his outstanding career as a four-time state medalist and four-time state finalist, taking silver three times and gold as a sophomore.
He also ends his career with 195 victories, second most all-time in District 4 history behind only Montgomery’s Brandt Harer (214). At the state tournament, Milheim surpassed Montgomery’s Conner Harer (191) for No. 2 all-time.
In the championship semifinals, Milheim dominated against Bradford’s Jordan Thompson, 19-4, 3:40 to secure a spot in the fianl. He won his championship quarterfinal match with a 64-second pin vs. Bishop McDevitt’s Nicky Negron and pinned Quaker valley’s Matthew Danna in 1:11.
