Williamsport hires Kevin Brown as new football coach, Jamie Miller as golf coach

From 2012 through 2021, Williamsport graduate Kevin Brown could been seen on the sidelines for Millionaire football games as an assistant coach, working in numerous capacities.

He was a running backs coach, offensive coordinator and associate head coach. Now, he’s the next varsity head coach. Brown was hired as the newest football coach after Tuesday’s school board meeting. He takes over for Mike Pearson, who took a job coaching Mansfield University’s sprint football team.

Brown is a graduate of WIlliamsport where he earned three varsity letters in football before playing at Lock Haven University for three years.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to coach at my alma mater an begin working with the students for the 2026 season,” Brown said.

In addition to the numerous previous duties listed from 2012-21, Brown also was responsible for scheduling the daily practice plans and handling game-day play calling duties.

During the 2016 season as offensive coordinator, the team’s offense was ranked ninth in the nation in yards per game, averaging 500 yards and 50 points per game.

Most recently, Brown served as running backs coach at Lycoming College from 2023-25. He also has been active in youth athletics, including serving as a Little League coach and twice worked as offensive coordinator for the annual District 4 football all-star game.

A Williamsport native, Brown has three sons — Quinton, Marshall and Deacon — who all graduated from Williamsport.

In addition to Brown being hired, Williamsport also hired Jamie Miller as its golf coach.

“I’m excited to work with our golfers as they continue to learn and grow in the sport,” Miller said.

A graduate of South Williamsport, Miller was a three-sport athlete and competed in football, wrestling and baseball. He later attended Bucknell where he was a three-year starter for the school’s Division I wrestling program.

Miller has been an assistant golf coach at Williamsport for the past three years. In addition to his coaching experience, he’s served as a PIAA wrestling official for 24 years and has been recognized for his outstanding service as the District 4 Wrestling Official of the Year 11 times.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Brown and Coach Miller into these leadership roles within our athletic program,” Williamsport athletic director Sean McCann said. “Both bring valuable experience as educators and coaches, as well as strong connections to our community. We look forward to the continued growth of our football and golf programs under their leadership.”
