Williamsport track and field excels at Tim Cook Invitational

Battling cold temperatures and gusty winds throughout the day, Williamsport Track & Field still put together a standout performance at the 21st Annual Tim Cook Invitational, highlighted by individual champions, record-breaking runs, and strong depth across both the boys and girls squads.
Junior Alex Takach led the way for the Millionaires with a dominant showing in the sprints. Takach captured the 100-meter dash title in 10.96 and added a third-place finish in the 200-meter (22.38). His victory in the 100 earned him the prestigious Memorial Scott Sehcler Award, recognizing the meet’s top performer in the event.
Senior Nate Woods added valuable points with a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter (22.51) and an eighth-place effort in the 400-meter (53.82). Sophomore Tevin Williams continued to shine with a pair of third-place finishes, running 51.48 in the 400 meters and clearing 6’4″ in the high jump.
Freshman Brysen Thornton showed promise in the distance events, placing seventh in the 3200-meter (10:09), while senior Kye Diakite finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (16.10).
The 1,600-meter relay team of Woods, Takach, Connor Hofstrom, and Williams turned in a strong third-place performance in 3:28.47. The 4×800-meter relay squad of Noah Baird, Lauger Waldman, Thornton, and Hofstrom placed eighth.
In the field events, freshman Ashton Thomas impressed with seventh-place finishes in both the long jump (20’2″) and triple jump (40’10”), while junior Cordoza Minor contributed in the throws with an eighth-place finish in discus (135’1″) and seventh in the shot put (44’10.5″).
For the Lady Millionaires, junior Isabelle Sanders delivered a historic performance. Sanders ran 2:17.98 in the 800 meters and shattered both the meet and school records in the mile with a time of 5:00.52. Her efforts earned her Outstanding Female Athlete of the Meet honors.
Fellow junior Madeline Sanders also had a huge day, placing second in the mile (5:05.19) and winning the 3200 meters in 11:12.52.
Freshman Desiree Ware placed seventh in the 100-meter (13.14) and eighth in the 200-meter (27.53), while junior Aubrey Phillips-Cobb showcased her versatility with a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (15.62), fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (48.99), and third in the long jump.
The girls 1,600-meter relay team of Loisa Hofstrom, Mah’ogny Bell-Smalls, Mile Veldhuis, and Sanders added another strong performance on the track.
Senior Isabelle Morrow captured the high jump title with a clearance of 5’3″ and placed fifth in the long jump. Freshman Aletha Fletcher finished eighth in the high jump (4’8″) and fifth in the shot put (32’10”), while junior Ayanna Barbee earned a runner-up finish in the triple jump (34’8.25″). Senior Dayianna Baines rounded out the field events with a second-place finish in the javelin (107’4″).
With contributions from veterans and underclassmen alike, Williamsport showcased its depth and talent across all event areas at the first big invitational of the season. The Millionaires are back in action on Tuesday at Shamokin.
