Area sees success at Dan Wilhour Classic in track and field

SELINSGROVE — Local athletes saw plenty of success in both girls and boys competition at the Dan Wilhour Selinsgrove Classic on Saturday with solid times and distances.

Defending PIAA Class AA 300 hurdles state champion Kylie Temple, a senior, of Hughesville won the 300 hurdles event on Saturday with a time of 45.85, beating out Jersey Shore freshman Elizabeth Hollick by nearly two seconds as she took second. Sierra DeWire of Hughesville ran a 48.21 for third and Montgomery’s Selah Persing ran a 48.25 for fourth.

Hughesville junior Katelyn Temple took fourth in the 100 with a time of 12.78 as Jilly Deivert of Shikellamy won in 12.10. Hollick ran a 16.65 to take second in the 100 hurdles behind only Selinsgrove’s Mikayla Martin (15.41) while Persing ran a 16.93 for fourth.

Warrior Run’s Natalie Hall ran a 26.10, nearly half a second behind Deivert’s 25.54 to take second in the 200. Hall also took third in the 400 in 58.01 as Hughesville’s Katelyn Temple took second (57.89). Gigi Veach of Selinsgrove won in 57.85. Jersey Shore’s Aaralynn Kimble took fourth in 59.35.

In the 1,600, Lewisburg senior Maya Sak took third in 5:28.87 and Hughesville sophomore Evelynn Meckbach took fourth in 5:31.57.

In the high jump, Hughesville freshman Casey Schultz cleared 5 feet even to win. Lewisburg senior Emma Bolton cleared 4-10 to tie with Mount Carmel’s Tessa Fourspring for second and Montgomery junior Mikaila Ganoe was in fourth (4-10). Milton’s Sienna Short threw 123-6 to win the javelin by just three inches over Bryn Woodruff of Towanda. Milton’s Carrie King took fourth (112-3).

Hughesville freshman Emelia Wolfe ran an 11:45.15 to take second in the 3,200 as Selinsgrove’s Ashtyn Lukens won in 11:41.00.

Canton senior standout Alexis McRoberts had a throw of 127 feet, 3 inches to take second in the discus, behind only Selinsgrove’s Isabella Furgison (130-7). Lewisburg’s Ziva Williams threw 122-3 for third. McRoberts also took second in the shot put with a throw of 39-7 1/2 as Furgison won that event as well (48-4 3/4). Loyalsock’s Zaryah Hawkins-Pegues took third with a throw of 39-7.

Montoursville’s Allie Eberhart cleared 10-6 in the pole vault to take second, losing out on misses as Shikellamy’s Sarah Bronowicz won with 10-6 as her height. Warrior Run’s Olesia Cieslukowski took fourth (9-6).

Lewisburg senior Lydia Delsite jumped 36-3 1/2 to win the triple jump competition as Milton’s Elizabeth Schrock leapt 35-8 for second. 

On the boys side, Montoursville junior Bryce Winslow ran a 22.39 to win the 200, beating out Loyalsock senior Danny Dowell by just 0.30 seconds.

Hughesville senior Kaviko Faulkner ran a 39.53 in the 300 hurdles to secure a win.

Warrior Run junior Ori Kennel ran a 40.50 to win the 400, beating out Winslow who ran a 49.82 for second place.

Hughesville senior Tyce Shaner finished second in the 3,200 in 9:38.17 and teammate Wyatt Laubacher, a junior, ran a 9:55.27 to finish third.

Loyalsock senior Jeremiah Johnson won the shot put competition with a throw of 54 feet, 9 inches, winning the event by just two inches over Troy Raup of Danville. In the triple jump, Lewisburg’s Rebira Jemama took fourth (42-1) as Shikellamy’s Hunter Border won with a throw of 48-0 1/4.
