Bucktail keeping its opponents off of the scoreboard has now grown to four games, as their 12-0 win over Sullivan County (6-5) is their fourth consecutive shutout, outscoring their opponents 59-0 in that span.

Sophomore pitcher Carrie Ditty was one walk away from throwing a perfect game, as a single free pass was her only blemish, striking out five and allowing her teammates to commit error free ball on ten other plays.

The top of the Bucks lineup is loaded, so when the bottom of the order anchors an early rally, it is something that Bucktail surely likes to see as all eyes are narrowing in on the post-season as they improved to 8-2.

Ditty’s RBI double and a hit from Hayleigh Dent helped to cap off a six-run first inning, something Bucktail coach Mike Poorman liked to see.

“That was beautiful, just a perfect was to start the game and to help set things up the rest of the way,” Poorman noted after the first.

The lead was pushed to 8-0 in the second as Kendall Wagner, who went 3 for 3 from the plate, started the inning off with a triple, followed by a pair of doubles from Eva Sockman and Kelcie Wagner.

Bucktail’s fundamentals were on full display as well. In the first inning Kelcie Wagner missed a third strike but as the catcher dropped the ball, the freshman darted to first. Kendall Wagner stole home on the play as Kelcie stood on second after the catcher and pitcher were unsuccessful in tagging a quick-thinking Kendal.

In the top of the third it appeared the Griffins finally picked up a hit with a line drive to right field, but a heads up play from right fielder Angel Kmetz snared the grounder and the forced the out at first.

The Bucks will play their fourth of five straight home games when they host CMVT (5-7) on Friday.
