BELLEFONTE – On Saturday, the Central Mountain softball team travelled to Bellefonte’s O’Leary Fields to compete in the host’s annual O’Leary Tournament. There, it was carried momentum from a win earlier this week into two more, as it defeated DuBois, 6-3, before edging out State College, 8-7, to take home the tournament’s crown.
The star of the show was ace pitcher Camdyn Weaver, who pitched two complete games en route to two wins while also generating offensively against DuBois.
Against DuBois, the Wildcats started slow, falling behind by three runs heading into the bottom of the third. However, they’d respond with a run in the third before exploding late.
With five runs combined through the second and third inning, it was able to score six unanswered runs overall. Combined with four straight scoreless innings from Weaver, that was enough to grant it the win.
On top of a seven strikeouts from the mound, Weaver led the team offensively against DuBois, going 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBIs. Cirstyn Watson added two hits and a homer of her own, and Payton Hull contributed two doubles.

The Wildcats would follow it up with a similarly exciting win, this time featuring the opposite scenario.
After scoring six runs in the second and getting out to an 8-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third, they’d be tasked with surviving a State College rally. The Little Lions scored three runs in both the third and fifth innings, narrowing the gap to one with two innings to go.
However, in this case, Central Mountain managed to stifle the rally, holding State College scoreless through the last two innings to maintain its 8-7 win. Weaver finished with five strikeouts – 12 on the day – and logged over 200 pitches combined through Saturday.
Offensively, the Wildcats were led by Mallory Wunder against the Little Lions. Wunder went 2-for-2 from the plate, logging a double and three RBIs.
Now harboring a three-game win streak, Central Mountain (6-2) will look to keep it going in two home contests against Bloomsburg on Monday and rival Jersey Shore on Tuesday. Those games are each set for 4:30 p.m.
