Donnelly closes season with 270 saves, as Lyco men’s lacrosse falls to Wilkes

Junior Evan Donnelly posted 22 saves to finish the season with 270, the second-most in the history of the Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team and the Landmark Conference, as Lycoming fell to Wilkes University, 13-3, in conference action on Wednesday night at UPMC Field.

The Warriors finished the season 3-11 and 1-8 in the Landmark Conference under third-year head coach Tony Mackin.

Donnelly’s mark of 270 saves this season is behind only Ben Franco ’25, who stopped 283 shots in 2025, as he had seven 20-save efforts this year and finished the season tied for seventh in Division III in the category. He stopped 13 shots in the first three quarters before stopping nine of Wilkes’ 20 fourth-quarter shots, allowing just one goal. Donnelly also grabbed four groundballs.

First-year Ryan MacElhinney led the Warrior offense with two goals and first-year Samuel Hall added one. First-year Kyle Kunes was credited with an assist. Sophomore James Hall-Melnychuck had six groundballs and caused two turnovers and Hall also caused two turnovers.

Wilkes was led by two goals and three assists from Austin Sosnovik and three goals and an assist from Blaine Snyder. Mac Jackson grabbed 10 groundballs. The Colonels led 10-0 at halftime before the Warriors outscored the Colonels, 2-1, in the fourth quarter.
