Hughesville boys, girls sweep competition at multi-dual at Warrior Run
TURBOTVILLE — Hughesville’s boys and girls track and field teams swept the competition at a multi-dual at Warrior Run on Tuesday. On the boys side, Hughesville beat Warrior Run (91-59), Southern Columbia (102-43), Montgomery (109-35) and Sullivan County (126-15). The Defenders beat Southern (90-44), Montgomery (90-44) and Warrior Run (114-18) and Montgomery beat Sullivan (57-35). Sullivan fell to Southern (55-40) and Montgomery fell to Southern (51-40).
In girls competition, Hughesville beat Warrior Run (107-43), Montgomery (110-40), Southern (127-22) and Sullivan County (138-11) and Warrior Run beat Montgomery (71-68), Southern (87-49) and Sullivan County (86-33). Montgomery beat Southern (87-48) and Sullivan County (92-32) and Sullivan fell to Southern, 78-48.
Hughesville’s Kylie Temple and Montgomery’s Anali Pick were both two-event winners on Tuesday.
Temple ran a 44.05 to win the 300 hurdles by just over two seconds over Sierra DeWire (47.82) as Montgomery’s Selah Persing was third in 48.91. In the 200, Temple won with a time of 25.94 as teammate Casey Schultz was second in 26.80 and Sullivan County’s Addisyn Templin was third in 27.64.
Montgomery’s Anali Pick threw 97-10 to win the javelin, just beating out Hughesville’s Kalia Hack who threw 97-5 to take second. Warrior Run’s Melody Gardiner threw 96-8 for a third-place finish. Pick also won the shot put with a throw of 30-4. She edged out Warrior Run’s Annabelle Pierce (30-0) and Hughesville’s Kalia Hack (29-7).
Hughesville’s Taylor Bunce ran a time of 17.12 to win the 100 hurdles competition as Montgomery’s Selah Persing took second in 17.19 and Sierra DeWire of Hughesville was third in 17.24. In the 100, Hughesville went 1-2 as Casey Schultz won in 13.02 and Katelyn Temple took second in 13.04.
Grace Fortin of Hughesville ran a 5:28.21 to win the 1,600 by roughly two seconds over teammate Evelynn Meckbach (5:30.80).
Warrior Run’s Natalie Hall runs a sub-minute time to win the 400 in 58.16, beating teammate Brenna Pick who takes second in 1:02.69. Montgomery’s Alexis McKeta ran a 1:04.30 to finish in third.
Emelia Wolfe of Hughesville finishes in 2:23.04 to win the 800 and beat out teammate Regan Sellers (2:26.00) by three seconds. Warrior Run’s Katie Zaktansky takes third in 2:28.18.
In the 3,200, Hughesville’s Leah Lehman won in 12:38.80, winning by almost a minute.
Montgomery’s Mikaila Ganoe won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet even. Jadyn Temple of Hughesville jumped 15-0 for second. Hailey Ganoe of Montgomery won the triple jump with a leap of 30-10 and Hughesville’s Ziva Schwenk had a distance of 30-6.
Olesia Cieslukowski of Warrior Run cleared 10-0 to win the pole vault. In the discus, Annabelle Pierce of Warrior Run won by throwing 114-4, the only competitor to break 100 feet.
Hughesville’s Brendan Wolfgang ran a 15.34 to win the 110 hurdles, beating out teammate Kaviko Faulkner (16.25) and Warrior Run’s Josh Grenoble (17.73). Carter Gormont of Hughesville won the 100 in 11.35.
The Spartans went 1-2-3 in the 1,600 as Tyce Shaner ran a 4:26.12 to win, followed by Wyatt Laubacher (4:26.51) and Tristan Kurzawa (4:29.04).
Montgomery’s Jermain Morgan took second in the 400 in 54.44 , behind Southern’s Grady Garcia (52.02). Sullivan County’s Calen Sweigart was third in 55.23.
Kaviko Faulkner of Hugehsville ran a 39.63 to win the 300 hurdles over teammate Brendan Wolfgang (41.68) and Warrior Run’s Gavin Cromley (42.76).
Warrior Run took two of the top 3 spots in the 800 as Ori Kennel won in 2:00.02 and Gideon Kennel took third in 2:00.37. Between them was Hughesville’s Patrick Stine, who ran a time of 2:00.23. Stine would win the 200 with a time of 22.91 and Sam Haddon of Hughesville was second in 23.33. Maxwell Fogelman of Warrior Run was a third-place finisher in 23.56.
Hughesville’s Finn Styron ran a 12:38.16 to win the 3,200, beating out teammates Joseph Laubacher (12:38.74) and Everett Shaner (12:39.43) by roughly a second.
In the long jump, Sullivan County’s Tucker Blasi jumped 19-3 1/2 to win by more than a foot. Carter McCormick of Warrior Run won the triple jump (39-3). Warrior Run’s Ryan Kemock cleared 13-0 to win the pole vault.
