Jersey Shore track and field teams have success at Molly Dry Invite

Jersey Shore’s track and field team had a standout performance at the Molly Dry Invitational in both girls and boys competition.
Liz Hollick placed third overall in the 100 hurdles.
In the 400, Jersey Shore’s Aaralynn Kimble finished first while teammate Kathleen Loomis came in fifth as she recorded a PR.
In the 300 hurdles, Chloe Corson finished in third place with a PR while Carson Watkins finished fifth for the boys. Kimble came back from a tough 400/300 hurdles combination in back-to-back events to take fourth in the 200.
On the boys side, Connor Winters and Kash Herritt both made it to the finals in the 100. The boys 400 relay team took second and the girls placed third.
Kale Klinger took second in the 400, just edging out Dekin McDermott who took third with a PR.
In the 3,200, Sam Davis had his best time of the year to take home a third-place finish.
Jersey Shore saw success in the field events as well.
Jake Machmer finished third in the discus with a PR of 123 feet, 3 inches. Gannon Willoughby took fifth in the pole vault with a height of 11-6, matching his PR that he got at last year’s Molly Dry Invitational. Kale Klinger took sixth.
Other top-6 finishes went to Carson Watkins and Wyatt Stroup in the high jump.
Two girls matched their MRs in the high jump with Hollick taking first (4-10) and Loomis finishing in fifth (4-6).
Elliana Herr took second in the long jump with a distance of 14-6 3/4. Azelyn Dincher matched her pole vault PR of 7-6 to finish in third place. Alison Bilbay took first in the discus with her longest throw of the year at 104-10 and placed second in the girls shot put with a throw of 29-0 1/4. Bela Hensler and Sienna Bowlan also placed in the top-6 in the shot put.
In the javelin, Bella Hensler finished in first place and Mackendra Stoetzel took fifth with a PR by more than 4 1/2 feet.
To finish off the meet, Jersey Shore had two outstanding performances from both its boys and girls 1,600 relay teams. The boys dropped more than five seconds off their fastest time of the year to take second.
The girls team dropped nearly eight seconds to run a time of 4:13.71, the fastest in the district so far, to finish in first place.
In addition to Jersey Shore, other area athletes competed and saw success at the Molly Dry Invitational.
On the boys side, Sullivan County’s Tucker Blasi took second in the 100 with a time of 11.84 while Wellsboro’s Jacoby Strang took fifth (12.13). Dominic Marotti of Sullivan was sixth (12.30) and Montgomery’s Jermain Morgan (12.33) was seventh.
Wellsboro’s Jonathan Carl ran a 23.91 for second in the 200, behind only Corning’s Ryan Calkins who rana. 23.91 and won by fractions of a second. Sullivan’s Blasi was third and Marotti was fourth. South Williamsport’s Eli White (25.39) took sixth.
In the 400, Montgomery’s Dylan Sherman ran a 57.78 for seventh and Sullivan County’s Calen Swiegart was eighth in 58.16.
Wellsboro’s Jude Cuneo rana 2:06.05 to win the 800 by less than half a second over Bradford’s Kadyn Tessena. South Williamsport’s Spencer Beatty was fourth in 2:15.00. Montgomery’s Cole Rice took eighth (2:20.93). Beatty was a fifth-place finisher in the 1,600 in 4:59.70 while Wellsboro’s henry Whitney took third in 4:34.56.
South Williamsport sophomore Adam Kuriga took second in the 3,200 by running a time of 10:52.31, less than a second behind Corning freshman Elijah Sonner.
Wellsboro’s David Seeling was fourth in the 110 hurdles and South’s Kyree Moy was fifth. Seeling would take second in the 300 hurdles (42.86) and Moy was third (43.89) while Montgomery’s Camden Dalrymple finished fourth in 46.22.
South Williamsport’s Adam Kuriga ran a 6:56.04 to take second in the 2,000 steeplechase as Montgomery’s John Shrimp was third (7:17.54) in the event.
Seeling of Wellsboro was also a champion in the high jump with a height of 5-11. Wellsboro’s Brayden Benjamin (18-2 1/4) took fourth in the long jump while Wellsboro’s Liam Stevens was sixth (17-10 3/4) and Sullivan’s Blasi was seventh (17-4 1/4). In the triple jump, Wellsboro’s Jonathan Carl took second (42-4 1/2).
Montgomery’s Porter Hall took fourth in the javelin with a throw of 138-4. South Williamsport’s Jack Fortin took sixth (131-0).
In girls competition at the Molly Dry Invitational, Wellsboro’s Piper HOprich won the 100 with a time of 12.58, the only runner to break 13 seconds. Teammate Luna Moyer took third (13.34). Hoprich also took first in the 200 in 26.10. Montgomery’s Alexis McKeta was a sixth-place finisher in 28.82 and Sullivan County’s Addisyn Templin took eighth (29.16). Templin also took fourth in the 400 in 1:04.33.
Wellsboro’s Lauren Kosek won the 800 in 2:33.36 and South Williamsport’s Adalynn Zellers took third in the event in 2:43.72. South Williamsport’s Addisyn Morrison was fifth (2:49.90). Montgomery’s Avery Waldman took sixth (2:50.21).
Kosek also was a champion in the 1,600 as she ran a 5:06.03, beating out Corning’s Kateland Dininny by 28 seconds. South Williamsport’s Kendall Smith was fifth in 5:49.65 and Sullivan County’s Zoey Reese finished in seventh (6:03.43). Kosek took second in the 3,200 in 12:22.70, less than two seconds behind Corning senior Olivia Martinec’s 12:20.18. Smith of South Williamsport was third in 12:46.79.
In the 100 hurdles, Montgomery had three top-8 finishers in Brooke Knoebel (sixth, 18.81), Eva Nagel (seventh, 19.09) and Isabella Rivera-Williams (eighth, 19.32). Knoebel also finished fifth in the 300 hurdles in 53.73.
Montgomery saw Mikaila Ganoe, a junior, take second in the high jump by clearing 4-10. In the klong jump, Wellsboro’s Lauren Gehman was third (14-4 1/4) and Isla Twoey was fourth (14-2 1/2). Montgomery’s Rihanna Arrendondo was seventh (13-4 3/4) and Knoebel was eighth (13-3 3/4). Twoey took third in the triple jump and Arrendondo was fifth.
Montgomery senior Nova Bartlett took sixth in the discus with a throw of 86-5.
In the javelin, Montgomery’s Alexis McKeta took second with a throw of 93-7, behind only Bella Hensler’s 96-6 of Jersey Shore. Montgomery’s Anali Pick was third (92-1). Pick would also finish third in the shot put (28-11).
