Lewisburg’s Delsite, Williamsport 400 relay team set meet records at Bald Eagle Invitational in girls track

LOCK HAVEN — Lewisburg senior Lydia Delsite is making sure her senior year is one to remember and left a mark at the Lock Haven Bald Eagle Invitational at Lock Haven University on Friday evening.

Delsite brought home three individual titles for Lewisburg as the Green Dragons won the team title on the girls side (112.5), beating out HUghesville (101.5) who took second. Williamsport took fifth with 50 points and Warrior Run was sixth with 44.

Delsite’s best moment on Friday came when she not only won the triple jump, but set a new meet record in the process. Delsite won with a leap of 37 feet, 8 3/4 inches to set the meet record. Delsite would also win the high jump with a height of 5-2 and claimed a victory in the long jump with a leap of 17-5 1/2.

Lewisburg had two top-3 finshers in the high jump as Emma Bolton cleared 4-10 for third place and tied Montgomery’s Mikaila Ganoe. Jersey Shore’s Elizabeth Hollick tied for fifth (4-10). In the long jump, Williamsport’s Aamiyah Gallishaw cleared 16-2 1/4 for second place.

Also setting a meet record on Friday was Williamsport’s girls 400 relay team which ran a time of 48.75 to break the record at Lock Haven. The names of the girls on the relay team was not made available. They were the only team to break the 50-second mark as Hughesville’s Kylie Temple, Sierra DeWire, Casey Schultz and Kylie Temple ran a 50.03 for second place.

Hughesville’s Kylie Temple was a two-event winner at the invitational. She claimed a win in the 300 hurdles, the event she is the defending state champion in, with a time of 44.94, winning by just over two seconds against Tyrone’s Claire Lehman (47.10). Hughesville’s Sierra Dewire was third in 48.35 and Lewisburg’s Katherine Batkowski took fifth in 48.91. The Spartan senior also won the 200 in 25.85, the only runner to break 26 seconds in the event.

Warrior Run sophomore Olesia Cieslukowski reached a PR and personal best to take second in the pole vault with a mark of 9-6, behind only Southern’s Makenna Golden who won with a mark of 10-0. Warrior Run’s Alexis Shutt took third with a height of 9-0, as did Makenna Wallace of Milton, who took fourth.

Canton senior Alexis McRoberts won the shot put with a throw of 39-1 1/4 as Loyalsock standout Zaryah Hawkins-Pegues took second with a throw of 38-7 3/4. For McRoberts, it was one of two victories for the Warrior. She also set a personal best in the discus with a throw of 129-4, winning by just over 19 feet. Lewisburg’s Ziva Williams took second (110-3) and Warrior Run’s Annabelle Pierce was third (109-10). Taking fourth was Lewisburg senior Gwynn Rowe (104-10).

The area took the top 2 spots in the javelin as Lewisburg’s Ella Vance had a mark of 116-0 to win and Williamsport senior Dayianna Baines took second with a throw of 112-7. Milton’s Alexis Bergey took fourth 9104-9) and Montgomery’s Alexis McKeta was fifth (101-1).

In the track events, Lewisburg’s Baylee Espinosa claimed a victory in the 1,600 by running a 5:11.38, winning by just over nine seconds over DuBois’ bella Wildnauer. Hughesville’s Grace Fortin had a personal-best time of 5:25.18, and Kendall Smith of South Williamsport had a season-best mark of 5:38.93.

Hughesville’s Katelyn Temple won the 40 in 58.53, beating Clearfield’s Sophia Campolong by less than half a second. Jersey Shore’s Aaralynn Kimble took fourth in 1:00.33, a season-best time for her. Katelyn Temple was a third-place finisher in the 100 in 12.94. Mifflinburg’s Makenna Fogle won in 12.72.

In the 800, Warrior Run’s Natalie Hall ran a time of 2:21.58 to win and Hughesville’s Emelia Wolfe (2:23.37) and Regan Sellers (2:25.18) took second and third, respectively. Katie Zaktansky of Warrior Run ran a 2:26.91 for fifth. Lewisburg’s Maya Sak was a second-place finisher in the 3,200 in 12:01.22 and Hughesville’s Laura Ochs took third (12:13.44) and Hughesville’s Evelynn Meckbach took fourth (12:32.07). Lewisburg’s Theo Wilkinson was fifth in 12:33.85.

In the 2,000 steeplechase, Lewisburg’s Theo Wilkinson ran a time of 8:26.97 to win the event, beating out a pair of Bald Eagle Area athletes as Caylyn Dixson took second (8:43.21) and Heidi Eveleth took third (8:47.95).

Macia Owens of Central Mountain ran a time of 16.29 to take second in the 100 hurdles, narrowly missing first as Clearfield’s Haly Custaney won in 16.14. Williamsport’s Mah’ogny Bell-Smalls was fourth (16.84) and Montgomery’s Selah Persing took fifth in 16.91.
