LOCK HAVEN — The Lock Haven softball team traveled to Mansfield on Tuesday afternoon for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East doubleheader and took care of business as the Bald Eagles swept the Mounties, 9-0, in five innings and 4-3.

With the sweep, Lock Haven snapped a four-game skid to improve to 25-17 on the season and 15-11 in the PSAC East. The Bald Eagles are currently in third place in the Eastern Division and are tied in the win column for second with Shippensburg. Lock Haven finished the home-and-home series a perfect 4-0 vs. Mansfield.

Mansfield falls to 6-28 overall and 3-23 in the conference.

In game one, Lock Haven erupted for seven runs in the top of the fourth and Talia Ross threw a one-hitter to run away with a 9-0 run-rule victory.

Ross (15-6) went all five innings and struck out eight hitters and allowed just two baserunners to earn her team-high 15th victory on the year. Ross threw a no-hitter against the Mounties in an 8-0, five-inning victory on March 25.

In the nightcap, Balestrini drove in all four Lock Haven runs in three different innings and Keiva Middleton (4-4) limited Mansfield to three runs to pick up the win in the circle.

Ross threw the final 1 1/3 innings in relief to earn the save. Middleton went 5 2/3 innings and didn’t allow an earned run, while striking out five.
