LHU women’s lacrosse falls to Indiana (Pa.) at home, 12-9

The Lock Haven lacrosse team fell to Indiana (Pa.), 12-9, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division contest on Wednesday afternoon at Charlotte Smith Field. With the result, Lock Haven is now 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the West, while IUP improves to 5-6 on the season and 2-2 in conference play.

The Bald Eagles jumped out to a 4-3 advantage after the first period, but IUP outscored The Haven 8-0 over the second and third period to go out in front 11-4. Lock Haven erupted for five goals and limited the Crimson Hawks to one in the final 15 minutes, but The Haven’s mid-game dry spell proved to be the difference as IUP hung on for the victory.

Brynlee Pinschenat, Makayla Kelly, Peyton Masters and Gabby Gunnip all scored twice, while Kelly also dished out two assists to lead the Bald Eagles on offense. Gunnip added seven draw controls and Maddy Respen also found the back of the net.

Mackenna Brown and Ally Weaver led the defense with four caused turnovers, while Kelly scooped up a team-high four ground balls. In goal, Lock Haven goalkeeper Gretchen King finished with a game-high seven saves in net.

The Bald Eagles hit the road on Saturday for a 6 p.m. PSAC West battle at first place Slippery Rock.
