Local roundup: Lock Haven women’s lacrosse falls to Slippery Rock 19-3 on senior day
The Lock Haven lacrosse team (9-7, 5-5 PSAC) hosted No. 7 Slippery Rock (17-0, 10-0 PSAC) on senior day in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West game on Saturday to wrap up the 2026 regular season. The top team in the West Slippery Rock won the contest 19-3.
Prior to Saturday’s game, Lock Haven honored seniors Brynlee Pinschenat, Lexi Bunk, Gabby Gunnip, Mackenna Brown, Sam Hauck, Ally Weaver, Sarah Osmun and Peyton Masters as part of the program’s senior day celebration.
In her final home game for Lock Haven, Gunnip found the back of the net twice, while Makayla Kelly also scored.
Osmun finished with a team-high five ground balls, while Gunnip caused four turnovers and won three draw controls. Gretchen King wrapped up another sensational season in net and finished with a game-high 16 saves.
Lock Haven is set to kick off the PSAC Championship Tournament on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and will travel to the Eastern Division’s top-seeded East Stroudsburg.
Lock Haven finished the regular season 9-7 overall and 5-5 in the PSAC to earn the No. 4 seed in the Western Division, while reaching the postseason for the third straight year.

At the Penn Relays, the Bald Eagles sent some of their best athletes to the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States and came home with a podium finisher.
In the javelin, feshman Olivia Spotts, a Jersey Shore graduate, found the podium by finishing in eighth place. Spotts reached an impressive mark of 136 feet, 4 inches.
Sophomore Maria Puglia took 18th by reaching 123-5 and freshman Ava Komorowski reached 116-10 to take 25th.
Williamsport graduate Elizabeth Shultz, Kelci Carle, Alexanne Fite and Rain Collins took 12th in the 1,600 by finishing in 4:07.15 South Williamsport graduate Lillian Bradley, Fite, Makayla Grace Weber and Nicole Carroll finished with the fourth-best time in program history in the sprint medley relay. The Bald Eagle quartet finished in 4:15.30.
On the men’s side, Williamsport graduate Gavin Furey, Central Mountain graduate Sam Wible, Anden Aitkins and Jakob Rager set the Lock Haven program record in the distance medley rlay. The Bald Eagles ran a speedy 9:58.97, breaking the record that had stood since 1999.
Furey completed the 1,200 leg in 3:04.9 and passed the baton to Wible who completed the 400 in 49.4.
Aitkins handled the 800 in 1:53.3 before Rager completed the 1,600 in 4:11.4.
Eric Zalar took seventh in the hammer throw by reaching an NCAA provisional mark of 192-9.
Montoursville graduate Josiah Schans finished 19th in the 110 gurdles with a time of 14:33, running against the wind. Schans also finished the 400 hurdles in 53.84.
Jersey Shore graduate Peter Bellomo took tenth in the javelin. Bellomo reached a mark of 187-9.
Matt Reinard, Wible, Aitkins and Schans finished the 1,600 relay in 3:18.26.
At the Paul Kaiser Classic, Natalie Gentzel took second in the 400 hurdles by finishing in 1:06.78. Weber finished third with a 1:06.80.
Reagan Irons took third in the high jump by clearing a mark of 5-1. Samantha Trench finished third in the 100 hurdles prelims. Trench earned a PSAC qualifying time of 15.10. Trench also earned sixth place in the high jump by clearing a mark of 4-11. Kaydence Strange finished fourth in the 5,000 by finishing in 18:52.71.
Collins took fifth in the 400 by finishing in 1:01.42. Kelci Carle took seventh in the event with a time of 1:02.41.
Alannah Irwin took eighth in the long jump by clearing a mark of 16-2.25 and Emily Warta took eighth in javelin by reaching a mark of 98-4.
For the Lock Haven men, Parker Keiser, Evan Klinger and Anthony Marchetti finished in the top eight in the 3,000 steeplechase. Keiser took third (10:15.54), Klinger finished fourth (10:18.20) and Marchetti took eighth (10:39.86). Garrison Lucas, Jaden Wright, Dylan Cassetori and Gage Chipeleski took fifth in the 400 relay by finishing in 44.11.
Kevin Taylor took sixth in the pole vault by clearing 12-11.5.
Jorge Santana finished sixth in the 400m hurdles by finishing in 57.63. Santana also took ninth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.61.
Ben Smith took eighth in the javelin by reaching a mark of 152-3 and Bryce Warren took ninth in the triple jump by reaching a mark of 40-10.5. Ben Gusciora took seventh in the high jump. Gusciora cleared a mark of 5-5. Ben Streator finished ninth in the event by clearing 5-3. Shawn Hertzog finished tenth by also clearing 5-3.
• Junior Will Eberz and freshman Colby Seiler finished the first round at the Landmark Conference Championship with 82s to lead the Lycoming College golf team, which posted a first-day 334 at the par-72, 6-275 yard Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.
The performance was the best for Lycoming at the Landmark Conference Championship since joining the league in 2023-24, as Eberz and Seiler led the Warrior contingent by sitting 30th in the 50-player field. Eberz had two birdies, on the par-4, 442-yard No. 9 and the par-4, 357-yard No. 17. Seiler birdied the par-4, 360-yard No. 12.
Drew leads the tournament with a first-round 301 and Goucher’s Riley Ruby and Drew’s Elliot Parker lead the individuals after an even-par first round.
Freshman Hill Meserve is tied for 37th after a 12-over-par 84 and first-year Tre Lesperance rounded out the scoring four with a 14-over-par 86. Junior Connor Shanahan was 20-over-par on the first day.
