Local roundup: Warrior Run scores 16 runs in win against South softball

Trailing 6-0 after two innings, Warrior Run scored 16 runs in the middle innings propelled by Maura Woland and Sienna Wise, who had six RBIs each, and aided by four South Williamsport errors. That helped the Defenders beat the Mounties, 16-7, as South (0-4) is still searching for win No. 1 this season.

Wise added a home run and Woland had two doubles to lead the 12-hit attack. In the circle, Mackenzie Heyler and Mackenzie Litchard combined to retire the last 12 South Williamsport batters.

South Williamsport was paced by Mikaiya Hills (three hits, two RBIs) and Annabelle Fry (1 for 4, double, two RBIs).

Elyna Booth struck out seven and scattered six hits as North Penn-Liberty defeated Athens on the road, 3-1. Liberty scored twice in the first three innings for a 2-1 lead through three. Liberty added an insurance run in the top of the sixth.

Julia Karczynski went 2 for 4 with a double and run scored, Haley Litzelman was 2 for 4 with a triple and RBI and Maddie McNamara went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Claire Dominick was 1 for 3 with a double and run scored for the Mounties.

• Jersey Shore tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third at 1-all, but two runs in the top of the fourth by Shikellamy shifted the momentum back to the Braves en route to a 3-1 win in baseball.

Both Shikellamy and Jersey Shore combined for six hits each.
