Lock Haven women’s lacrosse upsets No. 22 Seton Hill at home

LOCK HAVEN – Behind a dominant performance from Makayla Kelly, the Lock Haven lacrosse team handed No. 22 Seton Hill a 13-6 defeat Wednesday afternoon at Charlotte Smith Field.

Lock Haven secured its third straight game to improve to 8-5 overall and 4-3 in the PSAC, moving into a tie for third in the Western Division. Seton Hill falls to 8-5 on the season and 5-2 in the conference.

Kelly was virtually unstoppable, finishing with three goals and three assists to pace a Haven offense that controlled the game from the opening draw. Gabby Gunnip added three goals of her own, including the game-winner, while Lexi Bunk contributed two goals and three assists. Jordan Ellis also scored twice.

Lock Haven seized control early, jumping out to a 4-1 lead after one quarter by converting three power-play opportunities.

Seton Hill never truly threatened to climb back, despite a spirited second-quarter push that briefly trimmed the deficit to two at 5-3.

Maddy Raspen provided a dagger with two late fourth-quarter goals to seal the outcome.

Brynlee Pinschenat was all over the field on Wednesday and finished with a team-high five ground balls and four caused turnovers, while adding an assist and two draw controls. Peyton Masters rounded out The Haven goal scorers.

Gretchen King was steady in net for Lock Haven, stopping 15 of 21 shots faced, to earn her eighth victory in net on the year.

The Bald Eagles remain home and will host Gannon in a PSAC West battle on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Charlotte Smith Field. Saturday is the program’s Morgan’s Message Day in honor of mental health awareness.
