Loyalsock boys sweep tri-meet with Warrior Run, South; WR girls sweep competition

Warrior Run won a tri-meet with Loyalsock and South Williamsport in girls track and field competition with a 97-45 win over the Mounties and a 73-62 win against the Lancers. Loyalsock beat South Williamsport, 81-58. On the boys side, Loyalsock swept the competition wtih a 80-70 win against Warrior Run and a 105-43 win against the Mounties while Warrior Run beat the Mounties, 101-43.

Danny Dowell picked up two wins for Loyalsock on the boys side. He won the 100 in 11.05, winning by more than half a second, and ran a 22.95 to win the 200. Teammate Ryan Lingg won the 400 by running a 55.61. Loyalsock’s Cashlin Rogers was a winner in the 1,600 thanks to a time of 4:56.61.

In the 800, Warrior Run finished 1-2-3 in the event with Aiden Hoffman winning in 2:03.74, Ori Kennel taking second in 2:04.16 and Gideon Kennel taking third in 2:05.24.

Dowell was part of Loyalsock’s 400 relay team which won in 45.10 with Anton Cochran, Ethan Wetzler and Ivan Baker.

In addition to Dowell, the Lancers saw Jeremiah Johnson claim two victories. Johnson won the shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 8 inches and then he won the discus with a mark of 119-1 1/2, winning by more than 17 feet.

Warrior Run’s Gavin Cromley was a two-event winner as he swept the hurdles competition. Cromley won the 110 hurdles in 15.99 and the 300 hurdles with a time of 43.15. The Defenders also saw Carter McCormick claim two wins. The Warrior Run athlete won the long jump by clearing 18-7 and the triple jump with a leap of 38-11 3/4. Ryan Kemock of Loyalsock won the pole vault by clearing 12-0. He was the only competitor to go above 9-0.

Kendall Smith of South Williamsport picked up two wins in the 1,600 and 3,200 to help the Mounties score points in girls competition. She won the 1,600 in 5:52.62, the only runner to crack six minutes in the tri-meet, and won the 3,200 in 13:05.00. She was the only two-event winner in girls competition in the tri-meet.

Loyalsock’s Zaryah Hawkins-Pegues won the shot put by throwing 32 feet, 10 inches, winning by almost three feet over Warrior Run’s Annabelle Pierce (29-11). Hawkins-Pegues and Pierce swapped finishes in the discus as Pierce won with a throw of 96-8 1/2 and Hawkins-Pegues took second with a throw of 87-7.

Warrior Run’s Alice Hollenbach won the 100 with a time of 13.86, Loyalsock’s Madilyn Wolford won the 200 in 29.43, Warrior Run’s Brenna Pick won the 400 in 1:04.34 and returning state qualifier Natalie Hall won the 800 in 2:25.03.

Loyalsock’s Zowie Rinehart ran a time of 18.82 to win the 100 hurdles and Warrior Run’s Haleigh Landis won the 300 hurdles in 54.57.

In the 400 relay, South Williamsport’s team of Lael Bradley, Taylee Kamerer, Maddison Reedy and Althea Street won in 1:00.43.
