Williamsport has a long history of successful swimmers dating back to the 1970s and the first PIAA swimming championships that were held. Back in 1976, it was Chip Frazier making a name for himself with Williamsport, becoming the program’s first top-5 finisher when he took silver.
It took 50 years, but someone finally was Frazier’s equal and it happened this past March. At Bucknell, Williamsport junior Evan Summers reached the podium at the PIAA swimming and diving championships in Class AAA by taking home a silver medal in the 100 breast.
It may have taken five decades, but Summers did what only one other Williamsport swimmer had ever done by taking second place at the state meet. And that success was why Summers earned the Sun-Gazette Boys Swimmer of the Year for the 2025-26 season.
It’s Summers’ second consecutive Swimmer of the Year honors.
Summers also became the first swimmer in Williamsport history to medal in back-to-back state meets. He’s also the only Millionaire to take third or better twice in his career. And the scary part for other swimmers in Class AAA? Summers still has another year to go.

“I am very happy for his success. Hard work does pay off even fi ti takes longer than expected to accomplish his ultimate goal,” Williamsport coach Brett Johnson said after the state meet. “I amevery excited to see where he goes from here.”
If Summers has his way, it’ll be one more step higher on that podium at Bucknell.
Summers had an outstanding year. He kept getting better as the year went on, peaking at the perfect time in the postseason. At the District 2-4 Class AAA championships, Summers won gold in the 200 IM and 100 breast. He also was a silver medalist for the 200 medley relay team and the 400 free relay teams.
Four second-or-better medals at districts? That’s not a bad haul for a swimmer.
While Summers claimed the Sun-Gazette’s Swimmer of the Year honor for a second consecutive season, plenty of other area swimmers had success as well. A look at who made the 2025-26 all-star team below.

BOYS SWIMMING
FIRST-TEAM ALL-STARS
Logan Diehl, Muncy
Diehl had an outstanding senior year. For the past four years, Diehl was a one-man swimming team representing Muncy as an independent swimmer, and it paid off when he got to districts this final season. Diehl, the runner-up for Sun-Gazette Swimmer of the Year honors this season, took home two silver medals, tying Marcie Wallis (1981) as the highest-placing Muncy swimmer at districts. Diehl finished second in the 200 free at districts and second in the 500 free this year, capping his career wtih two silver medals. And, while Diehl missed out on a trip to states, he still etched his name in the record books. The only swimmer that bested Diehl in those races was Lewisburg’s Collin Shannon.
Brady Ross, Williamsport

RALPH WILSON/Sun-Gazette Correspondent Williamsport's Brady Ross competes in the 200 IM during a high school swim tri-meet with Wellsboro and Danville at Williamsport this year. Ross was named a Sun-Gazette boys swimming all-star this season.
It seemed that whatever events Ross swam in throughout the regular season, he had instant success with. And that was just as true once the district meet came around. At the District 2-4 Class AAA championships, Ross took silver as part of both the 200 medley and 400 free relay teams and ended the season with a silver medal in the 50 free and a bronze medal in the 100 free. Ross came just shy in all four events of punching a ticket to the state meet.
Evan Weaver, Williamsport
Weaver was a solid swimmer throughout the season for Williamsport and routinely helped the Millionaires pick up key points in duals or invitationals thanks to individual wins and placing in relays. He did well once he reached districts as well. Weaver’s best finish at this year’s District 2-4 Class AAA championships came in the 100 breast where he finished in sixth. In the 200 free, he took home a ninth-place fnish at districts. While he didn’t qualify for states, he still had a superb season start to finish.
Cooper Allmaras,
Williamsport
Allmaras was another Millionaire who was outstanding throughout the regular season and came up clutch in the pool at the District 2-4 Class AAA championships. Allmaras took silver in the 100 back and bronze in the 50 free, coming shy of reaching states in both events. He also was part of two Millionaire relay teams which took silver (200 medley, 400 free) and almost qualified in states for those events as well. He may have missed out on the state meet in Bucknell, but Allmaras put together an outstanding district performance with three silvers and a bronze.
Nathaniel DePrenda,
Williamsport
DePrenda was part of two Williamsport relay teams which claimed silver medals at the District 2-4 Class AAA championships and individually, had two top-8 finishes in a tough district. DePrenda took second in both the 200 medley relay team and 400 free relay team. In the 100 back, DePrenda finished in fifth and in the 200 IM, DePrenda secured a seventh-place finish.
Collin Shannon, Lewisburg
Shannon had an outstanding district competition this year and walked away with two gold medals and a trips to the state meet in two individual events. Shannon had great times throughout the season and proved early on this past winter that he would be a swimmer to contend with at the District 4 championships. Shannon swam at ime of 4:58.99 to win gold in the 500 free at districts, the only swimmer to break the five-minute mark. He would win district gold in the 200 free as well with a time of 1:49.67, winning that event by just under four seconds. He didn’t reach the podium at states, but no doubt will use that as motivation next year.
Nolan Scheller, Milton
Milton’s swimming team isn’t a huge one in terms of roster size, but that doesn’t mean the talent isn’t there. Scheller is Example A. Scheller was an outstanding swimmer this year for the Black Panthers and took home two district gold medals. Scheller won the 50 free in 21.72, beating out Athens’ Eli Hicks, a talented swimmer, who swam a 22.20. In the 100 free, Scheller beat another solid opponent as he won gold in 48.77 and beat out Danville’s Jimmy Zhang by nearly two seconds.
Rhys Swift,
Central Mountain
Swift competed in four total events at the District 6 Class AAA championships and took at least fourth or better in each. Quite a performance for the Wildcat. Swift took fourth in both the 200 IM and 500 free individually at districts. He was also part of the Wildcats’ 400 free relay team which took silver and the 200 medley relay team, which took bronze.
Che McAllister,
Central Mountain
Another talented Central Mountain swimmer, McAllister finished the season by claiming four top-8 finishes at a tough District 6 Class AAA championships. The Wildcat took home a fifth-place finish in the 200 free and also claimed a seventh-place finish in the 100 breast. In relay competition, McAllister was part of the team’s third-place 200 medley relay team alongside Christian Briggs, Neil Kaluzny and Rhys Swift. He also took 3rd in the 200 free relay alongside Kaluzny and Briggs.
Neil Kaluzny,
Central Mountain
The Wildcats had a lot of success this year and Kaluzny was a key part of it. Throughout the regular season, Kaluzny swam well and put up solid times and performed well at the District 6 Class AAA championships. Kaluzny took home a fourth-place finish in a tough district meet in the 200 free and secured another fourth-place finish in the 100 free. In relay competition, Kaluzny was part of Central Mountain’s 200 medley relay team and 200 free relay team, both of which took home bronze medals.
Christian Briggs,
Central Mountain
Another Wildcat who was a huge part of the team’s success was Briggs. The Wildcat swam well in the regular season and took home four top-5 finishes at the District 6 Class AAA championships. Briggs was part of the Wildcats’ 200 medley relay team and 200 free relay team, both of which were third-place finishers. In the 200 IM, Briggs secured a fifth-place finish and in the 100 back, Briggs took home another fifth-place medal. Two fifth-place individual medals and two third-place relay medals at the district championships sure isn’t a bad haul.
