Williamsport’s Takach, Williams set meet records at Bald Eagle Invitational in boys track
LOCK HAVEN — Alex Takach showed last year that he was a talented runner, competing in record-breaking relays last springs and helping Williamsport in the 100 throughout the year and districts.
On Friday at the Lock Haven Bald Eagle Invitational at Lock Haven University, Takach again showed why he’s one of the area’s top sprinters. Takach, a junior, won the boys 100 in 10.95 seconds, not only winning the event but setting a meet record in the process and was the lone runner to break 11 seconds as he ran an outstanding time. Loyalsock’s Danny Dowell took second in 11.01 and Hughesville’s Spencer Stine was third in 11.02. Nathaniel Woods of Williamsport was fourth in 11.05. For Dowell, Stine and Woods, their times were all personal or season bests.
Williamsport ran away with the boys team title with 171 points as Warrior Run was second with 71.33, Hughesville took third with 71 and Loyalsock was fourth wtih 54.
Takach was one of two Millionaires on Friday to set a meet record at Lock Haven. In the 400, Williamsprot’s Tevin Williams did so by running a time of 48.66 to win the event with a personal-best time. He beat Warrior Run’s Ori Kennel who took second in 49.60. The Defenders’ Gideon Kennel was third (51.25) and Maxwell Fogleman took fourth (51.57). Central Mountain’s Wyatt Heeman took fifth in 52.64.
While Williams broke the meet record in the 400, he also finished with two other individual wins in the field events. Williams had a personal best and PR for the year by clearing 6 feet, 2 inches to win the boys high jump. He tied with DuBois’ Ryan Wildnauer, who also PR’d at 6-2. Montgomery’s Jace Hanford took third (6-0) and Jersey Shore’s Khani McCray hit a personal best with 5-10. Taking fifth was the Bulldogs’ Breylan Guerrero (5-10).
He also won the long jump with a jump of 22-10 1/2, winning the event by more than two feet over teammate Ashton Thomas (20-7) who claimed a second-place finish. Thomas would take fourth in the triple jump by jumping 39-11 1/2. Warrior Run’s Carter McCormick was second in the triple jump (40-1 1/4).
Warrior RUn’s 1,600 relay team set a meet record with a time of 2:34.14, winning by more than six seconds. That team was comprised of Maxwell Fogelman, Braego Cieslukowski, Gideon Kennel and Ori Kennel.
In the 300 hurdles, Kaviko Faulkner of Hughesville won the event with a time of 39.24. Maurice Baines of WIlliamsport took fifth in 42.36. Dowell of Loyalsock won the 200 in 22.49, winning by just 0.01 seconds in the closest race of the invitational as Nathaniel Woods was second in 22.50.
Tristian Kurzawa of Hughesville took first in the 1,600 by running a 4:32.40, just narrowly edging out Canton’s Lawrence Halbfoerster in a tight finish as the Warrior finished second in 4:32.91. Williamsport’s Brysen Thornton took third in 4:38.99 and Williamsport’s Noah Baird was fourth in 4:39.84. Pat Stine of Hughesville finished fifth in 4:46.22.
IN the 3,200, Williamsport claimed the top two spots as Brysen Thornton won in 10:03.69 and teammate Noah Baird took second in 10:11.73 with a season-best time. Hughesville’s Joe Laubacher was fifth (10:26.21).
Warrior Run’s Ryan Kemock PR’d in the pole vault by clearing 12-6, winning by a foot over Williamsport’s Cooper Allmaras (11-6), who took second place.
Loyalsock senior Jeremiah Johnson had a solid performance in the shot put with a throw of 51-2 3/4, good enough for a secod-place finish behind only Southern’s Jaden Carter who threw 53-3 1/2. Williamsport junior Cordoza Minor took third with a throw of 49-4 1/2.
In the discus, Minor claimed a second-place finish with a throw fo 142-8, less than three feet behind Mifflinburg’s Chace Aikey, who won with a season-best throw of 145-3.
South Williamsport’s Jack Fortin had a season-best throw of 161-1 to take fourth in the boys javelin. St. Mary’s Landon Rippy threw 178-0 to win while his teammate Peyton Wendel took second with a throw of 176-0.
Loyalsock’s Cashlin Rogers ran a time of 6:44.04 to win the 2,000 steeplechase, setting a personal best in the process. Central Mountain senior Damien Winner took second in 6:52.71 as they were the only two runners to break the seven-minute mark in the event.
Williamsport senior Kye Diakite ran a 15.14 to take second in the 110 hurdles as Clearfield’s Ethan Mitchell won with a time of 14.96. Hughesville’s Kaviko Faulkner was third with a time of 15.81 and Brendan Wolfgang of Hughesville took fourth in 15.84. Warrior Run’s Gavin Cromley ran a 16.23 for fifth.
