Area teams hope to make runs in District 4 baseball playoffs

The District 4 high school baseball playoff brackets are all set for Class A, AA, AAA and AAAA, and area teams are hoping to be able to make a run to claim district gold.

In Class A, Cowanesque Valley, the top seed, plays Northeast Bradford at Mansfield on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The winner of that game will play on Friday, May 22 at Bowman Field at 4:30 p.m. in the championship game against either Benton or Millville, the other semifinal.

In Class AA, Southern Columbia earned the top seed and has a bye into the semifinals. The Tigers will face either Muncy or Northwest on Wednesday at Central Columbia at 4:30 p.m. Muncy and Northwest play on Saturday morning at Muncy in a play-in game at 11 a.m.

In the other semifinal, third-seeded South Williamsport and second-seeded Montgomery play on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Millionaire Mountain.

The Class AA championship game is scheduled for next Saturday at Bowman Field at 11 a.m.

Wellsboro is the No. 1 seed in the Class AA field and has a bye into the quarterfinals. The Green Hornets will face either Bloomsburg or Towanda on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Wellsboro.

Warrior Run, seeded fourth, hosts fifth-seeded Troy in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Third-seeded Mifflinburg hosts sixth-seeded Lewisburg on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and seventh-seeded Hughesville travels to second-seeded Mount Carmel on Tuesday in the quarterfinals at 4:30 p.m.

The Class AA semifinals are scheduled for Friday and the championship will be on Tuesday, May 26 at a site and time to be determined.

The Class AAAA championship is set as second-seeded Montoursville and top-seeded Athens will face on Thursday, May 21 at 4:30 p.m. at Bowman Field.
