CM, South athletes have success at dual meet in Mill Hall
MILL HALL — Central Mountain and South Williamsport athletes saw success in Mill Hall in a dual meet between the two schools. Team scores were not made available.
Central Mountain junior Shayden Hill won both the 100 and 200 events. In the 100, Hill ran a time of 11.52, beating out teammate Ricky Rorhbach by 0.20 seconds. Hill won the 200 in 23.52 as teammate Caden Peterson was second in 24.97 and South Williamsport sophomore Trent Rogers took third in 25.26.
Central Mountain junior Brayden Stahl finished with two first-place wins. The Wildcat won the long jump by clearing 19 feet, 1 3/4 inches and won the triple jump with a leap of 36-5. South Williamsport’s ELi White took second in the long jump (17-11) while Josiah Allert of Central Mountain took second in the triple jump by jumping 34-11.
Allert would win two events, however. In the high jump, Central Mountain went 1-2-3 in the event as Allert won with a height of 5-6, Keron Yerger took second with a height 5-4 and Camden Mann took third with a height of 5-2. Allert also claimed a win in the shot put with a throw of 37-10, beating out South Williamsport’s Gavin Lumbard (35-5).
South Williamsport’s Kyree Moy, a sophomore, was a two-event winner as well. The Mountie won the 110 hurldes in 17.80, beating Central Mountain’s Jacob Nyman by 0.16 seconds. Moy ran a 42.72 in the 300 hurdles and again edged out Nyman, who took second in 45.93.
Central Mountain’s Wyatt Heeman ran a 52.75 to win the 400, beating teammate Brody Rhine (54.92) who took second and South Williamsport’s Eli White (56.68), who finished in third.
South Williamsport’s Adam Kurigan finished the 800 in 2:15.45, winning by almost a second over Xiam Deems of Central Mountain, who finished in 2:16.30. In the 1,600, Gavin Freae of South Williamsport, a senior, finished in 5:11.89, beating Central Mountain’s Shane Walker, a sophomore, by nearly two seconds (5:13.84).
Central Mountain senior Damien Winner ran a time of 11:13.88 to win the 3,200 as teammate Will Stout took second in 13:19.04.
Brayden Bird of Central Mountain won the discus by throwing 113-7 1/2 and Allert took second in 108-7 while Logan Hanna of Central Mountain aws third (101-7). Ethan Shetler of Central Mountain won the javelin by throwing 154-3 while South Williamsprot’s Jack Fortin took second with a throw of 142-8.
Central Mountain senior Sarah Hall ran two solid times in the hurdles events to win both and be a two-event winner. Hall won the 100 hurdles in 15.99 while taking first in 48.79 in the 300 hurdles. Macia Owens, a sophomore, was second in both events in 17.11 and 50.85, respectively.
Central Mountain’s Harper Conklin won the 100 in 13.48 while Abigail Winslow of Central Mountain was first in the 200 in 29.38. South Williamsport’s Lael Bradley was second in the 100 in 14.06. South Williamsport’s Carly Quimby won the 400 in 1:04.24 and Central Mountain’s Grace Keohane won the 800 in 2:33.66.
In the 1,600, South Williamsport junior Kendall Smith finished in 5:41.95 to win by eight seconds over Central Mountain’s Keohane (5:49.65). Emma Wolfe of Central Mountain was the lone runner in the 3,200 and ran a6:27.82. 1
In the 400, Central Mountain’s Zaylie Warren was second in 1:05.96 and in the 800, South’s Adalynn Zellers ran 2:37.77 for a second-place finish.
Central Mountain had a pair of freshmen go 1-2 in the high jump as Sofia Kelly won with a height of 4-10 and Zaylie Warren took second with a height 4-6. South Williamsport’s Briley Martin was third with a height of 4-2.
In the long jump, Althea Street of South Williamsport jumped 14-0 to win while Sophia Hoy of Central Mountain took second (13-9). Kelly would win the triple jump with a mark of 32-7 while Warren took second with a leap of 30-3 1/2 and South’s Street took third (28-5 1/4).
In the pole vault, South Williamsport senior Elyse Knoebel cleared 8-0 to win while Conklin of Central Mountain was second (7-0). Central Mountain’s Gemma Bathurst, a freshman, threw 76-4 to win the discus.
Central Mountain’s Lane Walker won the javelin by throwing 82-2 1/2 and Morgan Davis of Central Mountain threw 25-1 to win the shot put. South Williamsport’s Madison Reidy took second in both events with throws of 64-1 and 24-9 1/2, respectively.
