Local roundup: Robinson reaches 100 strikeouts for year in Williamsport’s win vs. BEA

Ashlyn Robinson reached some impressive milestones and had a big day, helping Williamsport close its regular season on a high note. Robinson threw a three-hit shutout, reached 100 strikeouts this season, as well as 200 for her career, and went 4 for 4 as Williamsport blanked Bald Eagle Area, 3-0. Robinson struck out seven to reach the single-season and career marks and belted an RBI triple. Kinsley Cannode added two hits and scored. Payton Pennycoff hit an RBI single during a three-run fifth inning rally and Emma Vollman scored that inning while Brenna Beck added an RBI and scored. Williamsport (16-3) will be the top seed in the District 2-4 Class 6A playoffs and host either Scranton or Wyoming Valley West in the semifinals.

Dani Miller went 2 for 3 with a home run, helping Jersey Shore defeat Danville, 6-4. The Bulldogs (13-5) eliminated Danville from postseason contention, meaning it will take part in a four team Class AAAA tournament. Lexi Frey also had two hits and Lynna Clark threw a six-hitter while striking out seven. Jersey Shore concludes its regular season Friday at Milton.

Shikellamy scored at least two runs in each of the first three innings en route to a 12-1 win in five innings against Lewisburg on the road.

The Green Dragons avoided a shutout by scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Braves saw Marley Lenker go 3 for 4 with three doubles, a team-high six RBIs and scored a run. Mali Prutzman went 2 for 4 and Hailee Renn had a double. Lewisburg was led by Meg Mitchell, who went 1 for 2 with a double.

Muncy and Benton got into a high-scoring affair as Muncy scored double-digit runs in the first and sixth innings en route to a 32-22, six-inning win at home over the Tigers.

Muncy collected 24 hits as Lillian Wheeler went 5 for 6 with a team-high five RBIs and scored five runs. Rachel Paulhamus went 3 for 4 with two doubles, a triple, four RBIs, three walks and four runs scored, Sadie Odell was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and four runs scored, Hayley Thompson went 4 for 5 with a double, three RBIs and scored three runs and Evelyn Buss finished the game 2 for 5 with a double, RBI, walk and four runs scored.

• After joining the 100-win club and earning his first berth to the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, senior Eli Crum was named Lycoming College’s Most Outstanding Male Athlete at the Senior Athlete Celebration & Athletics Recognition Banquet.

An economics major, Crum finished his senior season with a 28-7 record with 13 falls, earning his first bid to the NCAA Championships by finishing third at the Region 2 Qualifier. He finished his career with a 104-41 record, finishing 10th in program history in wins. He set the program record with 40 technical falls and his 38 pins are eighth in program history.

The Carlisle native won individual tournament titles at the Rodarmel Allstate Invitational and the Lycoming Invitational and placed second at the RIT Invitational and third at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational.

Crum was a member of Chi Alpha Sigma Athletics Honor Society and a three-time NWCA Scholar All-American.Wise is the fifth men’s soccer player to earn the Most Outstanding Male Athlete Award.
