Local roundup: White goes 2 for 4 to help Williamsport baseball capture share of HAC-I title

Giovanni White went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, while four pitchers combined on a three-hitter as Williamsport defeated Jersey Shore, 6-2 and captured a share of the HAC-I championship. The Millionaires (14-1, 9-1) won their final seven league games and will win the title outright if Shikellamy defeats Central Mountain next Thursday, otherwise the two share the crown. James Naughton struck out six in three innings, Nate Crowe and Nolan Brelsford did not allow a hit in relief and Ethan Chilson earned a two-inning save after entering in the sixth in a three-run game. Cole Deitrick was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs as Williamsport won its 12th consecutive game. Mazden Lupton had two hits for Jersey Shore and Nate Moore hit an RBI double.
Noah Kirby went 3 for 3 with a double and four RBIs, also combining with Gabe Moser on a five-inning four-hitter, helping Montoursville rout Central Columbia, 16-3. The Warriors (14-3) scored in every inning and broke the game open with eight in the fourth inning. Jonah Heddings was 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs, while Logan Kirby and Kane Moore also each produced two hits. Kirby drove in two runs and Moore scored three times. Brody Aldenderfer went 1 for 2 with four runs, Austin Davidson was 1 for 2 with an RBI and Elijah Eck had a hit and two RBIs.
Loyalsock will face Montoursville in Friday’s Backyard Brawl and gave Mifflinburg a battle, leading in the fifth inning before the Wildcats rallied and won, 5-4. Jahvon LaRosa, Carter Cowden and Kayden Keefer all had two hits. LaRosa was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Cowden 2 for 2 with two doubles. Drake Dupont also doubled for the Lancers who nearly won after losing, 9-0 the first time it played Mifflinburg.
Jed Abernatha, Gage Webb and Nick Stubbs all had hits for Hughesville in a 10-0 loss at Southern Columbia. Southern scored six times in the seventh to go up 7-0.
Cowanesque Valley rallied for a run in the seventh to force extra innings, but Troy scored in the ninth and won an 8-7 thriller, handing the Indians just their third loss in 19 games. William Kies paced a 14-hit offense with three hits, while Dave Hess, Ayren Morgan, Levi Stahli and Gavin Churchill all had two hits. Churchill doubled.
Marek Mascho (3 for 4, two RBIs, two runs), Maxwell Mascho (2 for 2, twoo RBIs, three runs) and Gage Baltzley (2 for 2, four RBIs) all had doubles to help Wellsboro defeat Northeast Bradford, 15-1, in five innings. Wellsboro scored seven runs in the fourth inning to pull away and out-hit Northeast Bradford, 13-2.
South Williamsport continued one of the state’s most impressive streaks, reaching the district playoffs for a 37th straight year as Andrew Walter and Kamdyn Bubb combined on a one-hit shutout in a 6-0 win against Wyalusing. Walter threw the first three innings and Bubb closed with four hitless innings, the duo combining for seven strikeouts. Jaymes Carpenter, Garrett Lorson and Levi Butler all had two hits. Carpenter doubled and was 2 for 2, while Lorson drove in two runs and Buter added an RBI. Walter, Cade Lusk and Torin Haug also had hits for the Mounties (10-5) who play Williamsport at Friday’s Backyard Brawl.

Arianna Snyder and Ramona Kroll hit doubles and Madie Hamm was 1 for 1 with two RBIs and three runs. Fellow freshman Ali Herb also was 1 for 1 with two RBIs. Sadie Odell went 1 for 1 for Muncy.
Two days after collecting her 100th career hit, Maura Woland made a run at the cycle, finishing a double short as Warrior Run downed Lewisburg, 16-1 in four innings. Woland finished 3 for 3 with a home run, triple, four RBIs and three runs. Cait Waltman and Sienna Wise also each were 3 for 3. Watlman doubled and drove in two runs and Wise had three RBIs. Mackenzie Heyler threw a two-hitter and also was 1 for 1, while Skye Reigle had two hits, three RBIs and two runs.
Mikaiya Hills belted a lead-off inside-the-park home run but Wyalusing took control from there, defeating South Williamsport, 4-1 in six innings. The Rams went ahead, 10-1 in the seventh, but an injury ended the game, meaning the final score goes back to the last completed inning. Annabelle Fry went 2 for 2 for the Mounties and Maddie Pinkerton added a hit.
Ady Frantz recorded her 189th strikeout this season for Wellsboro as she struck out 18 in a 7-3 win against Northeast Bradford. She broke the mark of Alyssa Yungwirth for the single-season record.
• In boys tennis, Montoursville earned a 4-1 win against Central Mountain. The Wildcats’ lone win came at No. 1 singles where Joey McCloskey beat Gio Catino, 6-0, 6-2.
At No. 2 singles, Colby Ulmer beat Tim Brinker, 6-2, 3-6, 10-3 and Rain Snyder beat Brayden Spedding at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles action, Montoursville’s Cole Snyder and Ben Heitsenrether beat Ben Bringer and Gage Scanlan at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 6-3 and at No. 2 doubles, Cullen Pauling and Mason Fry beat Mason Temple and Gavin Edmonston, 6-1, 6-1.
The win moves the Warriors to 11-5.
• The Lock Haven women’s track and field team wrapped up the 2026 regular season by competing in the West Point Twilight at Army West Point. Rain Collins finished in the top-5 in a pair of events, including a victory in the 400 with a time of 58.91, which ranks 13th in program history. Collins also placed fourth in the 200 with a time of 26.87.
Nicole Carroll improved her eighth-best time in program history in the 1,500 with a time of 4:43.12, placing fifth.
Jersey Shore graduate Olivia Spotts shined in the javelin and placed second with a mark of 142 feet, 6 inches. Maria Puglia joined Spotts in the top-5 by placing fourth with a mark of 132-3. Clarissa Davis placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 39-1 1/4.
Montoursville graduate Josiah Schans improved his 110 hurdle school record and set a meet record to highlight Lock Haven’s men’s track and field team at the West Point Twilight.
Schans won both the 110 and 400 hurdles. Schans improved his program record and set a meet record in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.03, while crossing in 53.21 in the 400 hurdles.
Schans is currently 18th in the country in the 110 hurdles. Eric Zalar placed third in the hammer throw with a mark of 192-8. He also secured seventh in the shot put with a mark of 48-2
