Local roundup: Williamsport softball captures HAC-I title outright with win

Williamsport need not share the HAC-I championship this year. The Millionaires have this one all to themselves.

Ashlyn Robinson threw a one-hit shutout and every starter produced a hit as Williamsport captured the outright HAC-I championship, blanking Shikellamy, 10-0 in five innings. The Millionaires (13-1, 9-0) shared the crown with Central Mountain a year ago but are a game from a perfect league season, hosting Selinsgrove in their HAC-I finale and holding a two-game lead on second place Jersey Shore. Robinson struck out six and Kinsley Cannode, Emma Vollman and Bella Reddy all had two hits with doubles. Zaelana Minor homered, Kate Solomon doubled and Williamsport scored in every inning. The Millionaires won their fifth straight game, ending it early with four runs in the fifth.

Hughesville erupted for 20 hits and every starter produced at least one as it routed Bloomsburg, 16-6 in five innings. Addy Knight, Lyla Kinney, Kiana Peck and Kenna Fisher all collected three hits. Kinney was a home run from the cycle, going 3 for 4 with a triple, double, five RBIs and three runs. Knight doubled, drove in two runs and scored four times, while Peck drove in two. Maddie Smith, Laurel Bauman and winning pitcher Addison Henninger all had two hits with Smith and Bauman belting triples and Henninger adding two RBIs. Ashlyn Barlett hit an RBI triple and Avery Bergey doubled.

Warrior Run exploded for 12 runs in the fifth inning, turning a one-run deficit into a 12-1 mercy rule win against Southern Columbia. Makenzie Heffner led the charge and slammed a walk-off home run, finishing with three hits, a double, three RBIs and two runs. Maura Woland had two hits, two runs and two RBIs. Mackenzie Litchard dominated in the pitching circle, throwing a three-hitter and striking out eight.

Ady Frantz struck out 10 batters to reach 300 for her career as Wellsboro held off Canton in an NTL contest, 7-6. Frantz led Wellsboro by going 3 for 4 with a double, triple, RBI and three runs scored. Teagan Novinger went 2 for 3 with three RBIs.

• Lincoln Ayres threw six innings of two-hit baseball, struck out six and added two hits with an RBI as Lewisburg defeated Muncy, 7-1. Ayres took a shutout into the sixth inning and Landynn Bieber slammed a two-run home run. Landen Wagner added a triple as the Green Dragons (7-8) stayed in playoff contention. Graden Dohl threw six strong innings for Muncy (8-5), scattering three hits and striking out six. Nick Delany belted a sixth-inning RBI double.
