Lycoming men’s, women’s tennis teams see three earn academic all-district honors
The Lycoming College men’s and women’s tennis teams placed three players on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams, with junior Keegan Gill and sophomore Kayvan Shams, a South Williamsport graduate, being honored on the men’s side, and senior Greta Kimble, a South Williamsport graduate, earning accolades on the women’s side.
The Academic All-District men’s and women’s tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and compete in 90 percent of the institution’s games/contests played OR start in at least 66% of the institution’s games/contests.
Competing in his first season on the squad, Gill earns his first Academic All-District honor. The junior competed primarily at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, earning one singles victory and helping earn one win at the No. 2 doubles spot this past season.
Shams also earns his first Academic All-District accolade, finishing up his second season on the squad. The sophomore led the Warriors with seven singles victories, all at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. He also teamed up for four more victories at No. 2 doubles, also most on the team.
In her final collegiate season, Kimble earned Academic All-District honors for the second time, having previously been selected after the 2023-24 season. Kimble picked up two wins this season at No. 3 singles and also was a part of two more victories at No. 2 doubles. She completed her career with 18 total wins; nine at singles, nine at doubles.
