YORK — South Williamsport’s Logan McGinn, 14, delivered an impressive performance last week at the 2026 U.S. Open qualifier at the Country Club of York, carding a one-over par 71 and narrowly missing advancement against a highly competitive field.

The qualifier featured a deep lineup that included current and former Division I golfers, professional tour players and many of the top amateur players from across the region and country, making McGinn’s performance all the more notable.

Competing against older and more experienced players, McGinn showed composure well beyond his years, relying on steady ball striking and disciplined course management through the round.

After opening on the back nine, McGinn settled in quickly, highlighted by a key par save on No. 10. His round briefly moved to one-over following a bogey on the par-3 12th hole, but he responded with consistent play, including a birdie on No. 14 and a clutch two-putt from approximately 65 feet on No. 16 to maintain momentum.

Making the turn at even park, McGinn surged into contention and briefly to the top of the leaderboard after a birdie on the par-5 second hole moved him to one-under par, giving him the outright lead at that point in the round.

Despite narrowly missing advancement, McGinn avoided big numbers and consistently put himself in position with strong drives and quality approach shots, creating multiple birdie opportunities across the round.

His final score of 71 (one-over) reflects both the demanding conditions at York and the level of control and resilience he displayed throughout the day.

Starting at $2.99/week.
