Penn State men’s basketball team signs center Tim Oboh
STATE COLLEGE — Penn State coach Mike Rhoades announced the signing of 6-feet, 11-inch center Tim Oboh ahead of the 2026-27 Penn State men’s basketball season. Oboh comes to Happy Valley with two seasons of eligibility remaining after beginning his collegiate career as a two-year starter at Buffalo.
He was a two-year starter and accumulated career marks of 388 points, 224 rebounds, 56 blocks and a 55.8 field-goal percentage.
Oboh started all 32 games for the Bulls during sophomore season in 2025-26 and finished the year as Buffalo’s leader in rebounds (156, 4.9 rpg) and blocks (47), while also contributing 8.5 points per game and shooting a stellar 61.1 percent from the field.
He tallied 12 double-digit scoring efforts and two double-doubles during sophomore season and averaged 9.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in conference play and earned Academic All-MAC honors in 2025-26.
Oboh made 19 starts and 30 appearances during freshman season in 2024-25, averaging 3.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in 12.3 minutes per contest.
The London, England native played for Canterbury Academy and the Kent Crusaders prior to collegiate career where he averaged just under 17 points and 12 rebounds per game in the EABL while at Canterbury. Was crowned MVP in the EABL’s Southern Conference.
Oboh also represented Great Britain at the U16 and U18 levels in European Championship competitions.
“Tim will be a tough, physical and reliable presence in our frontcourt. He has a strong motor and will give us positive contributions with his rebounding, defense and finishing ability around the rim,” Rhodes said. “His size, toughness and experience are great fits for Penn State.”
