Hughesville has numerous athletes claim HAC-III track and field nods

JON GERARDI/Sun-Gazette Hughesville's Tristan Kurzawa, Patrick Stine, Carter Sherwood and Tyce Shaner won state gold in the 3,200 and that relay team was named first-team HAC-III.

During the District 4 track and field championships, Hughesville had numerous top-8 finishers en route to winning the team title at the District 4 championships in Class AA. All of that talent was showcased when the HAC-III boys track and field all-star teams were released.

Hughesville saw a total of three athletes claim multiple first-team honors and a number of others take second team or honorable mention nods in HAC-III. Hughesville’s Griffin Molino and the Spartans’ staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Spencer Stine (100 and 200), Tyce Shaner (1,600 and 3,200) and Kaviko Faulkner (110 hurdles and 300 hurdles) were all two-time first-team all-stars in their respective events.

Shaner also was named a second-team all-star in the 800 while Brendan Wolfgang was a second-team all-star in the 110 hurdles and Wyatt Laubacher earned second-team honors in the 1,600.

Hughesville’s Carter Gormont (200), Tristan Kurzawa (800 and 1,600), Laubacher (3,200), Wolfgang (300 hurdles) and Royce Gardner (pole vault) earned honorable mention accolades.

Hughesville’s 400 relay and 3,200 relay teams were first-team all-star selections. The Spartans’ 3,200 relay team of Tristan Kurzawa, Patrick Stine, Carter Sherwood and Tyce Shaner won state gold in Shippensburg. The Spartan’s 1,600 relay team was an honorable mention all-star selection

Loyalsock’s Jeremiah Johnson earned first-team honors at shot put, Warrior Run’s Ryan Kemock won first-team honors in the pole vault and Warrior Run’s Ori Kennel was a first-team all-star in the 400. Warrior Run’s 1,600 relay team of Ori Kennel, Gideon Kennel, Max Fogelman and Braego Cieslukowski won silver medals at Shippensburg and were first-team HAC-III all-stars.

Loyalsock’s Danny Dowell earned second-team honors in the 100 and 200, Warrior Run’s Aiden Hoffman was a second-team all-star in the 3,200 and Carter McCormick was named second team in the triple jump.

Earning honorable mention accolades included Warrior Run’s Gideon Kennel (400), Warrior Run’s Ori Kennel (800), Warrior Run’s Hoffman (1,600), Warrior Run’s Gavin Cromley (110 hurdles) and Loyalsock’s 400 relay team.
