Jersey Shore/GSV minor softball advances to district championship
Jersey Shore/GSV is heading to the District 12 minor softball championship game. The minor all-star team from Jersey Shore/GSV secured a 5-3 win against South Williamsport to advance to the title game.
The championship game is scheduled for Monday at 5:45 p.m. at Lycoming College with an if game rematch, if necessary, scheduled for Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.
Kennedy Eck struck out 11 batters with only three walks allowed and three hits against. Only one batter was hit by a pitch. South Williamsport’s Emma VanCampen had one hit and Ava Lamber had a hit.
For Jersey Shore/GSV, the minor softball all-star squad was led by Elyse Lazorka (single), Eck (single), Payton O’Brien (double, two RBIs), Savannah Styer (one run, one rBI0, Celine Lazorka (one RBI) and Sienna Herritt (one RBI).
South Williamsport would fall a day later to Keystone in an eight-inning contest, 5-4. Keystone beat Loyalsock previously in the tournament to advance to the weekend with a 13-12 win.
Jersey Shore/GSV made its way through the winners’ bracket by beating Keystone in the winners’ bracket semifinals, 15-7, and then earned a victory over South Williamsport in the winners’ bracket final.
