South Williamsport juniors advance to Monday’s district final
South Williamsport won the District 12 junior baseball losers’ bracket final with a convincing 9-4 win over Loyalsock, moving South into the District 12 championship game on Monday against East Lycoming.
East Lycoming had beaten South Williamsport in a rain-shortened game on Thursday, 3-0. Monday’s game will be played at Lycoming College’s field at Brandon Park at 5:30 p.m.
The result of the game was very evident as South’s pitching staff of Logan Nolan, Miles Gerber and Everett BUbb limited Loyalsock to four hits, four walks and a hit batsman and the defense did not commit an error. Loyalsock’s tendem of Cooper Velte and Braiden Gusick gave up four hits, ten walks and two hits batsman and its defense committed four errors.
Loyalsock’s offense was led by Dean Girio (1 for 1, walk, hit by pitch, run), Gusick (1 for 3, RBI, run), Nate BUrkholder (1 for 2, walk), Ace Kennedy (two walks, run) and Mason Reeder (walk, run).
