West End's 13-16-year-old all-star team cruised past Atlantic Shore on Thursday at Logue Field, 12-0, in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Babe Ruth all-star tournament.
West End jumped out to a lead in the bottom of the third inning after James Naughton grounded out and scored a run. Jahvon Larosa tripled and scored a run before Landynn Bieber singled, Adrian Zayas tripled and Isaac Sparks grounded out, driving in a total of four runs -- two by Zayas on his triple.
West End would score six runs on two hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to increase their lead. Landynn Bieber drew a walk and scored a run, Parker Frederick drew a walk and scored a run, Liam Lucas had a two-RBI single and Isaac Sparks singled to drive in a run and scored on a passed ball.
On the mound, Bieber earned the victory as the right-handed pitcher surrendered zero runs over two innings of work, striking out three and walking two.
Dom Deluca took the loss for Atlantic Shore.
Frederick and Sparks came in relief for West End and shut down Atlantic Shore.
Lucas went 2 for 3 to lead West End. Bieber and Zayas each had two RBIs and Andrew Yerger paced West End with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. West End didn't commit a single error and Anthony Dunlap had the most chances in the field with eight.
West End continues the tournament on Friday with a 5 p.m. game against Lackawnna. West End will play Mifflin County on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Mid-Atlantic Regional semifinals are scheduled for Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. with the championship game scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. The winner advances to the World Series in Branson, Missouri.
There was no state tournament this year.
