West Ends 14-year-old all-star team earned a win at the Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament in Old Bridge, New Jersey thanks to Dirks Bricker's 4 for 4 performance at the plate, securing a 16-4 victory over Atlantic Shore.
Bricker singled in the first inning, third inning, fourth inning and fifth inning to lead West End's offense at the regional tournament opener.
A nine-run third inning proved to be huge to lift West End to the win. Lyle Huggler drew a walk and scored a run, Ben Gill drew a walk and scored a run, Bricker singled for a run, Bryton Banks singled and scored twice, Wyatt Stroble drew a walk and scored a run, Parker Hyde singled and scored a run and Parker Hill hit a double to drive in a run while another run crossed the plate thanks to an error.
A Bricker single in the first inning down the right-field line brought in Ben Gill after Gill walked.
On the mound, Kaden Caster threw 4 2/3 innings and struck out three with two walks while allowing just five hits and four runs. Hugler appeared in relief and helped close the game out.
West End had 10 hits in the game as Bryton Banks had two. Enzo Janerella led West End by collecting three walks as the team did well overall offensively.
West End plays again on Friday at 12:30 p.m.. West End will play against Pine Forge on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Piedmont on Sunday at 9 a.m.
