Brahmer looks to boost PSU’s offense as tight end transfer

Following is a preseason series on Penn State's position groups and a key player to watch from each:
POSITION: Tight ends
Player to watch: Benjamin Brahmer (No. 18)
Class: Senior
Height/weight: 6-foot-7, 250 pounds
Career to this point: The towering senior is fifth all-time in receiving yards (977) and receptions (75) by a tight end at Iowa State. Brahmer was All-Big 12 honorable mention as a freshman and sophomore and a second team pick last year.
Quotable: "Ben is a young man we've worked with for the last three years. We know what his high-end ability is. We think he's super talented."

FYI: Brahmer is listed as a third-team preseason All-American by Phil Steele, the highest projected player on the PSU team. His father, Mark Brahmer, was his high school head coach while growing up in Nebraska They won a state championship together in 2022. Campbell expects to play a lot of two tight end sets, and may even sometimes have three tight ends on the field.
Others in the mix: The position may be one of the deepest on the team, including a holdover from the James Franklin era in Andrew Rappleyea (No. 87) and another tight end that joined Campbell from Iowa State in Gabe Burkle (No. 84), who has caught at least one pass in 16 straight games.
