LEWISBURG -- Sarah Althouse earned Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year honors, three Bison received slots on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team, and Bucknell was projected to finish fourth, as voted by the conference's head coaches.
Althouse has been a mainstay between the pipes for the Bison since coming in relief of Clara McCormick against Drexel in the first game of 2023. In the Bucknell career lists, the Bison senior ranks fifth in wins (25), eighth in shutouts (8), ninth in winning percentage (.510), and tenth in saves (239). She is six victories away from becoming the program's career wins record holder. Althouse has been a two-time second-team All-Patriot League honoree the past two seasons. Her 1.58 goals-against-average ranks ninth in Patriot League history.
Bucknell's three selections on the Preseason All-League Team tied with American and Lafayette for the most in the conference. Senior forward Ryane Fisahn and junior defender/midfielder Sally Hunter joined Althouse on the squad.
All three are first-time honorees.
After only playing 72 minutes in 2023 and 2024, Fisahn enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last year, totaling career highs in goals (5) and points (10), and enters 2026 as the team's leading returning scorer in both categories.
Hunter has starred in the midfield for Bucknell since beginning her collegiate career. Last year, she collected ten points on two goals and six assists. For her career, the junior has totaled 16 points on four goals and eight assists. Her greatest contributions come from steady defensive presence and strong stick work.
Bucknell finished 10-7 last season and third in the Patriot League. 2025 marked the first year since 2019 that the Bison won ten games. The Bison open the season on Aug. 28 versus Ball State.
American was projected to finish first, followed by Lafayette, 2025 Patriot League Tournament champion Boston University, and Bucknell. Holy Cross was picked fifth with Lehigh and Colgate rounding out the poll.
