Crosscutters suffer 9-7 loss on Tuesday at State College Spikes

The Williamsport Crosscutters used the long ball from the bats of James McCoy and Matthew Williams, but it wouldn't be enough as the Crosscutters fell to the State College Spikes 9-7 on Tuesday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

It was almost mirror nights for McCoy and Williams as both went 2 for 4 with two-run home runs, a hit by pitch and two runs scored. Williams also added a double. Sam DeCarlo also had a two-hit night by going 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Nick Barone added the final RBI for Williamsport on a 1 for 4 night. AJ Solomon accounted for the other Williamsport run scored.

Ryker Walton was charged with the loss, falling to 3-3 after just 2 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Brandon Scott went 3 2/3 innings in his Crosscutters debut as the first out of the bullpen, allowing three runs on six hits with five walks and two strikeouts. PReston Drebes pitched a no-hit inning with two walks and two stirkeouts.

Brody Roe went the final 2/3 innings, allowing just a single and striking out one.

Williamsport and State College wrap up their short two-game series on Wednesday evening at 6:35 p.m.
