Infante, Feltner combine on four-inning no-hitter as Ohio beats Massachusetts 10-0

Josiah Infante and Leo Feltner combined on a four-inning no-hitter and Hamilton, Ohio kept its Little League World Series title hopes alive Saturday, blanking Bridgewater, Massachusetts, 10-0. Infante threw 2 2/3 innings, striking out four, while Feltner closed with 1 1/3 perfect innings.

Massachusetts put only two runners on base, those coming via second-inning walks.

It was the second time a team from West Side Little League produced a combined no-hitter. The first came in 1993 when it did so against Virginia when current manager Tim Nichting assisted his father Ray who managed the Hamilton qualifiers in 1991 and 93.

"You can't really say anything to anyone," Feltner said. "You kind of have to keep to yourself just, so you don't jinx it. It was just a special moment."

Ohio broke things open with a seven-run third inning, taking advantage of some effective small ball, walks and Massachusetts mistakes. Feltner continued hitting well at the Series, going 1 for 1 with a double and RBI. He has three RBIs the past two days. He was one of five Ohio players with RBIs as the Great Lakes champions received production throughout its 12-player order.

Ohio drew nine walks and its seven-run inning continued a trend of big innings which really gained momentum at regionals when it put four games away with eruptions similar to Saturday.

A historic run came to an end for Bridgewater, Massachusetts after it reached the Series for the first time and won only the second league title in its 74-year history.

After Ohio took charge in the third inning offensively, Infante, Feltner and the defense locked down the defense. Infante and Feltner retired the final eight batters and the defense did not make an error.
