Loyalsock blanked Hughesville, 5-0, in the Lancers' girls tennis season opener on Monday. Emily Crawford and Caroline Crawford of Loyalsock both earned 6-0, 6-1 wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. Emily beat Talia Saka and Caroline beat Caroline Hicks.
Vivian Reem beat Shelby Myers 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles action, Lashlyn Sauers and Annalise Berger of Loyalsock beat Naomi Farley and Isabella Olshefski, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) at No.1 doubles and Kaylene Kriner and Nadia Ghayyada beat Hughesville's Olivia Kile and Micayla Applegate, 6-3, 6-4.
Williamsport earned a 4-1 win against Jersey Shore. The Bulldogs' win came at No. 2 singles where Emily Shemory beat Gabbie McQuillen, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0. At No. 1 singles, Audrey Dincher of Williamsport beat Molly Dalton, 6-2, 6-3.
Gianna Vitko and Maddie Lundy of Williamsport beat Azlyn Guerrero and Kamryn Kowalski, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles while Kylie Bango and Morgan Zeshan beat Scarlett Hensler and Alainia Samar, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 2 doubles.
Wellsboro secured a 5-0 win against Towanda. At No. 1 singles, Amanda Goncalves beat Nadia Alderfer, 6-2, 6-0 while Piper Anderegg earned a 6-3, 6-4 close win over Dalila Vega at No. 2 singles. Serenity Mosher cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles vs. Natalee Hicks.
In doubles' action, Wellsboro's Angie Cory and Kyleigh Lynn teamed up to beat Olivia Masters and Johna Miller, 6-0, 6-2 while Kya Lawton and Selah Hoprich won at No. 2 doubles vs. Keira McNeal and Rily Bonquita, 6-0, 6-0.
Central Mountain suffered a 5-0 loss to Danville. Josie Bendle of the Ironmen beat Lucy Walker at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Alexa Preisz beat Central Mountain's Lane alker, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Ellen Pena beat Kassie Williams at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Siyah Bhanushali and Chetna Chauhan beat Central Mountain's Tess Akeley and Kylee Markle, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles and Grace Dickerman and Gracie Moya of Danville beat Erin Thompson and Erin Packer, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles.
• In golf, Williamsport narrowly fell to Midd-West, 164-185. Williamsport was led by Waylon Edler's 42, Jaxson March's 46, Bryton Banks' 48 and Michael Hudock's 49.
• The Muncy Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is proud to announce that David Sterngold of Muncy, Class of 2008, and Noah Sterngold of Lewisburg, Class of 2010, have been elected as the newest two members in the Class of 2026.
The two are slated for induction at halftime of the Canton homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 9.
The pair will be the 84th and 85th members to enter the Hall of Fame since the late Stanley T. Schuyler established it 50 years ago. The committee's president Roger Campbell will be in attendance to present honorary picture plaques to both inductees.
David and Noah Sterngold will have their picture plaques displayed in the lobby of the new gymnasium while also having their sports biographies permanently on display at the Muncy High School Athletic Alumni website.
Prior to the game, a meet-and-greet will be held at 5p.m. in the ne Muncy High School gymnasium lobby where parents, friends, past teammates and coaches of the two newest inductees are invited to attend.
