Bucknell was unable to carry the momentum of a 14-3 win against VMI into last week's matchup against Penn, falling at Christy Matheson-Memorial Stadium to Penn, 20-7.
Now, the Bison are hoping for a rebound win to get back on track. But that will be far from easy as Bucknell heads to Pittsburgh for a matchup against an ACC team as huge underdogs.
Pittsburgh is 3-0 this year and has defeated Miami (Ohio) (59-14), UCF (12-7) and Syracuse (27-13).
This is the first time Bucknell and Pittsburgh meet in football since a 38-0 Pitt win in 1945.
Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi became Pitt's all-time leader in games coached last week with his 144th and surpassed Hall of Famer Jock Sutherland in the process. Narduzzi is 83-61 overall.
True freshman running back Damon Ferguson Jr. of Pittsburgh had his first career 100-yard rushing game against Syracuse as he ran for 102 yards on 10 carries. Pittsburgh also ran for a season-high 245 yards and three touchdowns against Syracuse.
So far this year, Pittsburgh quarterback Mason Heintschel has completed 59 of 93 passes for 783 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception throw.
While Pittsburgh is cruising with a lot of success, Bucknell is 1-3.
The Bison's Christopher Dietrich has 629 passing yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions thrown. Dietrich's favorite target has been Sam Milligan, who has caught 27 passes for 284 yards and thre scores while Michael Cadden has 13 receptions for 91 and a score.
On the ground, the Bison have been led by Cadden's 147 rushing yards on 41 carries as he's averaging 3.6 per rush. Ty Stauffer has 34 rushes for 108 yards, averaging 3.2.
