Bucknell earned its first win of the year last week at VMI with a 14-3 victory one week after losing a heartbreaker to ranked Villanova, 17-16.
Now, the Bison will look to try and carry that momentum against Penn this week at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium for a 3 p.m. kickoff in Lewisburg.
Against VMI, Bucknell scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to overcome an early 3-0 deficit which held for three quarters. Christopher Dietrich threw for 221 yards on 22 for 30 passing with a touchdown pass.
On the ground, Michael Cadden ran it 14 times for 70 yards and a touchdown while Ty Stauffer ran it 10 times for 60 yards. The Bison had 342 yards of total offense in a win against VMI.
Penn is opening their season against the Bison today.
Penn will have a new look to its offense this year after graduating Liam O'Brien after he had a 2,376-yard senior season with 19 touchdowns to six interceptions. O'Brien also led the team on the ground as he scrambled and ran for 548 yards throughout the year for a team-high seven TDs.
Back, however, is Donte West, a sophomore last year who ran for 417 yards. West struggled to get going early in the year last season, running for 11, 11, 5 and 19 yards in his first four games, respectively, but picked up steam late in the year including a 60-yard performance against Brown, a 125-yard effort vs. Cornell, and a 54-yard game against Harvard.
West will be looking to build off last year's success and lead the team's ground game this fall.
Julien Stokes was a senior last year and ran for 225 yards while Sean Williams Jr. is back after a 215-yard season.
