ALTOONA - On Monday afternoon, Central Mountain's sisterly duo of Lucy and Lane Walker ran the table to reach the District 6 Class AA doubles final. The run featured three wins, including one three-set victory in the quarterfinals. They'll face Westmont Hilltop's Isabella Parish and Lilly Evans in Wednesday's championship match.
The Walker sisters opened Monday's run with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over Central's Gabby Decker and Aubrey Eckman to reach the quarterfinals. They continued that streak in quarters with a 6-1 first-set victory over Westmont Hilltop's Dixon and Hoffman before their opponents evened the match with a 6-4 win in the second.
However, despite their opponent's response, the Walkers bounced back to take the match 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 and advance to the semifinals. There, they defeated the top-seeded duo in Central Cambria's Ireland DeBalli and Taryn Ream in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, to advance to Wednesday's final.
Wednesday's championship match is set to take place at Penn State-Altoona’s tennis courts, with time to be determined.
