Kiki Woodward and Ava Eyer each scored goals and assisted one another, helping Muncy girls’ soccer blank Troy, 2-0. Woodward scored the game’s first goal off an Eyer assist before the teammates reversed roles for the second goal with Woodward feeding Eyer for a goal. Hailey Ganoe made 11 saves in goal for the defending District 4 Class A champions.
• In boys soccer, Kai Wheeland scored two goals for North Penn-Liberty but Towanda scored the game’s final three and won, 5-2. Wheeland scored consecutive first-half goals to tie the game after Towanda went up, 2-0.
Montgomery’s game against St. Joe’s was postponed due to thunder in the area.
With 29:07 remaining in the game, weather forced officials to call the Wellsboro/Troy boys soccer game as Wellsboro was given the 7-0 victory. Liam Stevens had a hat trick and Gabe Cuneo had a team-high three assists. Maddon Mascho had two goals and an assist.
Jersey Shore held a 3-1 lead over South Williamsport but with 21 lefts in the first half, weather and thunder forced the Bulldogs’ game vs. the Mounties to be suspended. Dylan Hensler scored three goals. A date to resume the contest was not announced.
• Williamsport’s girls volleyball team opened the year with a tough 3-0 loss to Berwick, 25-23, 25-13, 25-20. Mollie Roan and Geiani Whaley both had 10 servicing points, Pippy Keiser had a team-high seven kills for Williamsport, Libby Radspinner had 10 assists and Peyton Dincher had eight assists and Kieser had a team-high seven digs.
The Millionaires head to Lake Lehman for a Thursday matchup at 4:30 p.m.
Wellsboro defeated North Penn-Liberty, 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-23). Peyton Keane had a team-high 10 kills for the Green Hornets, Ellie Largey and Jill Mickey both had 14 assists, Kendall Sweet had a team-high 15 points and Maddy Cruttenden had eight digs.
Ady Frantz led the Green Hornets with four blocks. Largey had eight points, Sweet had seven kills and Frantz added five.
Liberty saw Maddison Smith record 17 digs, Maddie McNamara post 16 and Lily McNamara record 10. Graham had a team-high three blocks and Smith led Liberty with 15 assists. Lily McNamara had eight kills while Vicki McTish posted seven.
• Jaxson March shot a 43, good for a tie for second in the Williamsport golf team’s 174-182 loss against Shikellamy. Leo Kinley shot a 45 and Waylon Edler and Benner Hudock 47s.
• The Lewisburg boys and girls cross country teams swept quad meets, defeating Milton, Jersey Shore and Southern Columbia. Thomas Graham, Tyler Confer and Evan Young finished third-fifth in the boys race. Milton’s Matthew Schreck won the race in 18 minutes, 15 seconds and was followed by teammate Bryson Walter in 18:35. Jersey Shore’s Samuel Davis took sixth in 19:47. Milton went 2-1 and Jersey Shore 1-2.
On the girls side, Kaelyn Bozella won in 21:49 with teammate Loghan Klinger right behind at 21:53. Lewisburg placed four runners in the top six. Milton’s Brianna Holovich took third.
Sullivan County also was victorious in both boys’ and girls’ cross country. The boys team defeated Wyalusing, 19-36, and the girls won, 15-45.
In the boys’ race, Sullivan’s Calen Sweigart won in a time of 18:08. Teammates Chase Preston, Seth Sweigart, Isaiah Botsford and Carter Blasi took places third-sixth.
Sullivan dominated the girls race, taking each of the first six places. Addisyn Templin won in 23:11. Paige Jordan, Zoey Reese, Kara Jordan, Addilyn Thiboeault and Amelia Reese all came in behind her as Sullivan boys and girls’ teams improved to 2-0.
Wellsboro suffered a 15-47 loss in boys cross country to Northeast Bradford, but the Green Hornets secured a narrow 28-29 win over North Penn-Mansfield and beat Cowanesque Valley, 20-37. Mansfield fell to Northeast Bradford, 19-42, and beat Cowanesque, 23-32. Cowanesque fell to Northeast Bradford, 15-50.
The Green Hornets’ Taitt Webster ran a 22:02 for eighth-place, the highest Green Hornet finished as Mansfield and NEB took the top seven places. Will Rudy of Wellsboro was tenth in 22:41.
In girls cross country, Wellsboro fell to Northeast Bradford, 23-32, but defeated Cowanesque (26-39) and North Penn-Mansfield (22-33). Lauren Kosek of Wellsboro won with a time of 23:21.
Northeast Bradford beat Mansfield, 20-35, and beat Cowanesque, 23-32.
Molly Tice took ninth in 28:33 for the Green Hornets.
• The Lycoming College field hockey team fell to Ohio Wesleyan University, 4-0, in a lightning-shortened humid season opener. Junior Hilary Clark posted 16 saves in her debut for the Warriors (0-1 overall) and junior Kaley Kerns made two defensive saves.
Mary Powers led the Battlin' Bishops (1-0), who were North Coast Athletic Conference runners-up in 2025, with a goal and two assists. Emma Reynolds, Grace Ammon and Mattison Hyland also scored in the contest, which ended with 11:19 left in the fourth quarter due to a second lightning delay.
• The Lycoming College women's soccer team's season-opening game with Gettysburg College has been postponed due to a prolonged lightning storm in the Williamsport area. The Warriors will open the 2026 season on Friday with a 4 p.m. game at Grove City College.
• Due to thunderstorms throughout the area, the Lycoming College cross country team's season opening run at the Misericordia Invitational was cancelled. The Warriors will open the season on Saturday when they head to the Dutchman XC Invitational at Union Canal Tunnel Park for a 10:15 a.m. start.
