Despite controlling Wednesday's game in terms of possession and shots, Hughesville girls soccer couldn't get past the defenses of Loyalsock goalkeeper Ava Deknecht. Of the Spartans' 30 shots, 16 was batted away by Deknecht, who helped lead the Lancers to a 2-0, shutout victory from goal.
Loyalsock did its offensive damage early, as Mackenzie Miller and Madison Perry notched goals to give the Lancers a 2-0 lead at the half. For Hughesville, Kalia Hack finished with four saves.
Wellsboro's Kate Bryant scored two second-half goals to help Wellsboro earn an NTL win against Wyalusing, 2-0. Jadyn Dunlap had four saves for the Green Hornets to preserve the shutout. Bryant's first goal came from a direct kick three minutes into the second half.
Warrior Run earned a 5-0 win against Mount Carmel. The Defenders scored just one first-half goal before erupting for four in the second half to put the game away as the Defenders out-shot Mount Carmel, 21-1.
• Goalkeeper Mason Fry did a solid job keeping the Montoursville boys soccer team in a tight, defensive battle at Selinsgrove on Wednesday. However, a penalty kick midway through the first from Ryan Toskey got the Seals on the board, and their defense did the rest, as the Warriors fell by a score of 1-0 on the road.
Montoursville logged five shots and four corners on the night, with two of those shots landing on goal. Landen Messimer was able to keep those two shots out of net for the Seals, maintaining the team's shutout victory.
• Lewisburg's girls volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Holy Redeemer, 25-20, 25-18, 25-19. Ella Vance had 10 digs, six kills and four blocks, Maya Bronner posted five kills, four blocks and four digs, Leila Bronner had four aces and Addison Putman recorded four digs for the Green Dragons.
