GLASSBORO, N.J. -- The Lycoming College football team fell to Rowan, 9-0, on Saturday, Sept. 26, in a non-conference game. The Warriors are 1-3 overall. Rowan is 2-1 overall.

Sophomore Christon Mitchell-Brown recorded 10 tackles and recovered a fumble. Junior Khalil Johnson finished with seven tackles, one sack and one forced fumble. Senior Spencer Ferguson rushed 21 times for 60 yards and senior Jared Zimmerman caught two passes for 47 yards and completed his only pass for 33 yards.

The Warriors' defense kept Rowan without a first down in a scoreless first quarter, with Khalil Johnson recording a third-down sack on Rowan's first possession. The offense's best field position came when junior and Montoursville graduate Chris Cooley's punt was muffed and sophomore Brady Jordan, a Jersey Shore graduate, recovered at the Rowan 49, and Ferguson converted fourth-and-1 with a 6-yard run to the Rowan 34.

The Warriors' defense kept the second quarter scoreless and set up the offense at the Rowan 1 after a fourth-down stop early in the quarter. The Warriors held Rowan to one first down in the first half, played in a driving rain, and the game remained 0-0 at halftime.

Rowan scored the only points in the third quarter when a fourth-down play from the Warriors' 16 resulted in a safety, making it 2-0. The Warriors' defense forced two Rowan punts and recorded tackles for loss by Mitchell-Brown, junior JayVon Story and sophomore Trinity Hill-Caleb.

The Warriors' best chance to answer came on their first drive of the fourth quarter when Zimmerman hit freshman Wesley Horsman for 33 yards and junior Joe Lyons later found Zimmerman for 22 yards on fourth down before the possession ended at Rowan's 5. Rowan had opened the quarter with a touchdown and extra point for a 9-0 score. Junior Aiden Barlett, a Hughesville graduate, forced a fumble inside the red zone and Mitchell-Brown recovered, but the Warriors' final possession ended on downs.

Michael Zarfati caught three passes for 102 yards and a touchdown for Rowan. Tyshawn Bookman rushed 22 times for 99 yards and added a 13-yard reception. Trey Helmick recorded a team-high 10 tackles with one sack and a forced fumble. AJ Ryker finished with three tackles and was credited with two fumble recoveries.
