Lewisburg at Milton
Both teams in this rivalry showdown need wins tonight and each has shown a lot of explosiveness the last few weeks, making this potentially one of the district's most exciting games this weekend. Lewisburg (4-4) is hoping to improve its District 4 Class AAA playoff seeding and stay in the hunt for a home playoff game, while Milton needs to rally past Selinsgrove for the final spot in the District 4 Class AAAA playoff field.
Lewisburg lost for the first time in four weeks last Friday, but nearly handed Bloomsburg its first loss, dropping a 36-32 thriller. The Green Dragons have topped 30 points in four consecutive games and quarterback Xavier Carter went over 1,000 yards for a second straight season last week.Wide receivers Jaylen Walker and Drake Osunde both are having big years and Walker has scored 19 touchdowns five ways. He has a district-best eight interceptions and returned his second for a touchdown against Bloomsburg.
Freshman Ethan Coleman is coming on strong and ran for 136 yards against Bloomsburg. Linebacker Owen Fellon sparks the defense, averaging 9.9 tackles per game and had 15 last week.
Milton (3-5) won two straight games before running into Southern Columbia last week. Freshman quarterback Paxton Humphrey has excelled since becoming the starter and has thrown for 766 yards and six touchdowns since Week 5. That includes a 336-yard, three-touchdown performance two weeks ago against Central Columbia. Previous quarterback Kamryn Wilson has become an excellent receiver and caught eight passes for 87 yards and a touchdown against Southern Columbia. He, Ja'Cori Brown and Jhemzuel Feliciano all have 19 or more catches and multiple touchdowns.
Brody Locke and Luis Santos both have topped 100 yards rushing in the last three weeks, Locke going for 105 yards and a touchdown at Southern. Santos ran for a career-best 167 yards and a touchdown against Northwest. The defense has produced two shutouts and Brady O'Rourke, Jackson Wertz and Schuyler Humphrey have combined for 43 tackles for loss.
Warrior Run at Shikellamy
Through three weeks, Warrior Run looked like a serious District 4 Class AAA title contender, but injuries have ravaged the Defenders (3-5) since then. Still, Warrior Run continues fighting hard through all the adversity and has been a few plays from wins the last two weeks, losing heartbreakers to Loyalsock and Hughesville (in overtime) by 14 combined points.
Quarterback Logan Stevenson returned at Hughesville and played for the first time since Week 4. He looked anything but rusty, throwing for a 2026 district-best 383 yards and four touchdowns. Despite playing just 4 ½ games this season, Stevenson also went over 1,000 yards. Liam Moore is out the next two games, but joined Emiliano Torres and Bryson Weigel as receivers who had 89 or more yards in that game. Torres has emerged the last two weeks as a strong all-around threat and Weigel averages 21.2 yards per catch.
Carter Little and David Stiner seemingly were everywhere at Hughesville. Little made a career-high 20 tackles and Stiner 18. Each also had double-digit solo stops and two-way lineman Cayden Robinson 11 tackles. Zayas Reynolds added an interception.
Shikellamy is 7-1 for the first time since 1981 and has won five straight games. The Braves feature an explosive offense and senior wide receiver Thomas Pollock is one of the most prolific in District 4 history, producing 225 catches for 3,337 yards and 33 touchdowns. Pollock also leads the team in rushing and generated touchdowns as a passer, rusher and receiver in last week's 42-10 win at Loyalsock.
Sophomore quarterback Bob Felmy is having a big season in his first year starting and engineered fourth quarter game-winning drives at Mifflinburg and Williamsport. Maddox Hoover is a dangerous playmaker in the passing game and linebacker Willie Bender averages 8.9 tackles per game, making 13 for loss.
Canton at Towanda
Canton (4-4) enters tonight fourth in the District 4 Class A standings and will host Northwest in the quarterfinals if those standings hold. A win tonight could put the Warriors in the mix for the No. 3 seed as well. Either way, the Warriors will be trying to snap a two-game losing streak against Towanda and continue a turnaround season in which they have doubled last year's win total.
Senior running back/linebacker Bailey Gardner has been at the heart of that resurgence and he and fellow linebacker Marcus Solomon lead the team in tackles. Gardner leads the team in rushing and is second in receptions as well. Solomon is having a big junior season and is tied for the area sack lead with eight. Quarterback Owen Moore went over 1,000 yards last week and Rylan Wesneski is 10th among area receivers with 24 catches.
Canton is playoff-bound for the eighth time in nine seasons and a lot of its current starters are underclassmen, shining a light on both the present and future.
Towanda (3-5) opened the season 2-0 before hitting some turbulence. The Knights feature a dangerous offense with Jazick Brown having a shot at 1,000 yards rushing and Gage Evans averaging 8.8 yards per carry, while scoring 10 touchdowns. Quarterback Reese Sluyter threw for 123 yards and two touchdowns a week ago against NTL-II champion Montgomery and Shane Magamhez and Curtis Maynard each caught touchdowns.
Towanda is seventh in the District 4 Class AA standings but could move up to No. 5 with wins in its last two games and help from Hughesville and Warrior Run opponents.
Ridgway/Johnsonburg
at Buckail
Bucktail won its first game since October of 2023 a week ago, downing Coudersport, 20-13. That came just two weeks after Coudersport had taken the first game, 41-14. Bucktail rallied from an early deficit and Corbin Pentz's late interception sealed the exciting win.
Sophomore Levi Stevenson had a big game, running behind a strong offensive line for 187 yards and a touchdown. Pentz ran for two scores and Patrick Tarantella caught four passes. Tarantella also fueled a stout defense and leads the team in tackles. He, Stevenson, Angelo Tarantella and Jaden Intallura all average more than five tackles per game. Junior receiver Teagan Stone has converted a third of his 15 catches into touchdowns.
Ridgway/Johnsonburg (5-3) has lost two straight after starting, 5-1 but features a potent offense and averages 35 points per game. It does most of that damage on the ground with three players going over 500 yards. Markus Gerg has run for a team-best 722 yards and 12 touchdowns, while quarterback Owen Steger has produced 651 yards and 10 touchdowns, along with 358 passing yards. Jace Zimmerman adds 514 yards with five scores. Hunter Dellaquila sparks the defense and has six sacks.
Cowanesque Valley at Sayre
CV (2-6) hits the road Saturday night, trying to snap a three-game losing streak. The Indians did receive a boost last week with the return of linebacker Kegan Lane and showed a lot of offensive punch in their two wins.
Dave Hess is seventh among area rushers and has 100-yard rushing, passing and receiving games this season. Gavin Churchill threw touchdowns in three straight games before last week and Cam Stahli is having a good sophomore season, leading the team in receiving and averaging 17.6 yards per catch. Two-way lineman Stevie Olson has 11 sacks the past two seasons and Trenton and Justin Schaar each have three-sack games this year.
Sayre (2-6) also has lost three straight games following a two-game winning streak. Hudson Malanoski is a workhorse running back who leads District 4 in carries and he went over 100 yards in both Sayre victories. Declan Berry threw two touchdowns passes in each win and Brayden Vorhis had five catches for 129 yards and a score in a 41-12 win against Wyalusing.
Central Mountain
at Mount Carmel
Central Mountain (0-8) played its best defensive game last week but now has the unenviable task of facing one of the state's most explosive teams, the undefeated Tornadoes. An encouraging sign was the way Central Mountain slowed the run last week. Doing so again tonight is a must because Mount Carmel leads District 4 in rushing, piling up yards like water running from a faucet.
Linebacker Kole Corman went over 100 tackles for a third straight season last week and has an area-best 108, averaging 13.5 per game. He needs 17 tackles in the final two weeks to reach 400 career tackles. Alex Johnson and Gavin Heverly intercepted passes against Montoursville and Central Mountain was tied 7-7 at halftime.
Heverly also threw a 12-yard touchdown to quarterback Kyle Everett who has scored three ways this season. He also has topped 100 yards rushing and passing this year.
Mount Carmel highlighted its eight-game winning streak with a comeback 27-26 win over defending 2A state champion Southern Columbia, snapping the Tigers 21-game win streak. Quarterback Jaylen Delaney and running back Cooper Karycki are third and fourth among District 4 rushers, totaling 1,969 yards and 27 touchdowns. Delaney also has thrown touchdowns on a third of his completions and he and Karycki have three punt/kick return scores.
Jason Klokis is climbing the all-time tackle leaderboard at Mount Carmel and the junior is averaging 9.6 this season with Max Karcyki at 7.8 and 10 tackles for loss. Kenny Miller and Josh Blessing have combined for 12 1/2 sacks for a team which can officially clinch District 4 Class AAA's top seed with a win tonight.
