Bald Eagles riding momentum of huge upset win last week

By From staff reports 2 min read

To say Lock Haven has a ton of confidence and momentum this week would be a huge understatement. Fresh off an upset win on the road at No. 10-ranked Indiana (Pa.), Lock Haven returns home today to face Edinboro at 1 p.m.

Last week's win over the ranked Crimson Hawks was one of the program's biggest victories. It was the Bald Eagles' first win against Indiana (Pa.) since 1981.

Robert Footman Jr. was superb passing, going 20 for 27 for 231 yards and four touchdowns while Ezequiel Johnson ran it 10 times for 42 yards. The Bald Eagles' defense was key in the win against Indiana (Pa.)

The Bald Eagles picked off Crimson Hawks' quarterback Mason Maggs three times and sacked him once. One of those interceptions was on Indiana (Pa.)'s final drive as well.

Footman Jr. has developed into a solid quarterback for Lock Haven. In his six games played, he's thrown for 1,134 yards and 11 touchdowns, completing 72.7% of his passes.

Edinboro is 2-4 and is riding a string of four consecutive losses. Last week, Edinboro fell to California (Pa.), 30-20 and lost a double-overtime heartbreaker to Indiana (Pa.) the week prior, 46-44.

Edinboro gave up 14 points in the first quarter and went into the half trailing California (Pa.), 24-6.

Nico Marchitelli went 16 for 34 for 144 yards with a touchdown and interception last week. Edinboro struggled to establish a running game as Antwan Ceasar had just 44 yards on 14 carries, but did find the endzone twice.

Marchitelli has 1,215 passing yards this year with five touchdowns and a 56.1% completion percentage.

The Bald Eagles are 4-2 overall and 3-0 in PSAC West competition and will look to start 5-2. A win would be the fourth straight for the Bald EAgles who started the year 1-2 after losing back-to-back games to American International (21-14) and No. 3-ranked Kutztown, 35-20.

Starting at /week.
