CV PPG--20.6, PPA--28.4; YPG--235.9, YPA--256.1

CV notes: Cowanesque Valley's season long road trip continues tonight at Rodney K. Morgans Stadium. The Indians (2-5) originally were to host this game but construction on their new stadium has forced them to spend the season on the road. Between that and not having all-star linebacker/1,000-yard rusher Kegan Lane all year, it has been a tough go, but CV showed its promise during back-to-back wins against Wyalusing and North Penn-Mansfield. Dave Hess is one of the area's most versatile players and likely will line up as a quarterback, running back and wide receiver. He is second among area rushers and has totaled 4,307 yards in his scholastic career, going over 1,000 rushing and receiving yards. Gavin Churchill has thrown touchdowns in three straight games and Hess had three catches for 112 yards. Sophomore Cam Stahli is a dangerous receiver and has 34 catches for 671 yards and eight touchdowns early in his high school career. Two-way lineman Stevie Olson tallied nine sacks as a sophomore last fall and both Justin Schaar and Trenton Schaar have had three-sack games this year.

CV player to watch--Max Millard: The sophomore for 71 yards and two touchdowns on five carries a week ago at NTL-I champion Troy. Millard also can be dangerous coming out of the backfield and is among team leaders with four tackles for loss.

South PPG--38.7, PPA--5.0; YPG--311.6, YPA--117.6

South notes: South (5-2) has won five straight games, allowing just six points in those games. The Mounties lead District 4 in both points and yards allowed per game and have surrendered just 30 points. No team has scored more than two touchdowns against South and it has forced 13 turnovers. Garrett Lorson returned an interception for a score at Wyalusing last week; Caleb Johnson a fumble and Colton Paulhamus took a pick back for a touchdown against Canton. Linebacker Dominik Goode has returned from injury and continued his big season, totaling four sacks and three interceptions. Samir Moy set the tone in last week's 71-point first half explosion, returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown. He later added a punt return score. Cole Gerber threw four touchdowns, including three to Levi Butler. Lorson also threw a touchdown and caught a 50-yard scoring strike. He, Eli White and Cade Lusk all have at least 230 yards rushing and five touchdowns this season. Kaiden Paulhamus leads the area in kicking points and is 33 of 33 on extra-point tries. South has won at least five games for a 15th straight season and will host a Class AA quarterfinal if it wins its final three games.

South player to watch--Kasim Davenport: A key part of South's success on both lines, Davenport is a three-year starter who had a sack at Muncy and helped the Mounties take a shutout into the fourth quarter there. He leads South in sacks over the past three seasons and also is a good run stuffer.

Outlook: CV has built a nice foundation the last few years. The program is in good hands, but injuries and no home have made things tough this season. South likely will make it even harder tonight.
