District 4 girls tennis singles draw released

The District 4 singles tournament begins this morning at Williamsport High School with the first three rounds of the tournament being played beginning at 9 a.m.
A number of area players received byes into the second round, including South Williamsport's Mylee Morrison (eight seed), Loyalsock's Caroline Crawford (five seed), Wellsboro's Amanda Goncalves (four seed), Muncy's Zoe Dohl (three seed), Lewisburg's Dayssi Weis (six seed) and Loyalsock's Emily Crawford (two seed).
The top-seeded player this year is Danville's Josie Bendle. Bendle will face either Central Columbia's Cassandra Marte or Hughesville's Talia Saka, who face off in the firsst round. Montgomery's Arianna Snyder and Mifflinburg's Alice Grill will play in the first round with the winner advancing to face Morrison of South.
Selinsgrove's Alexis Hoot and North Penn-Liberty's Marissa Bradford compete in the first round with the winner advancing to play Caroline Crawford of Loyalsock. Towanda's Nadia Alderfer and Mntoursville's Elsa Kehrer have a first-round matchup, with the winner facing Goncalvez.
In the bottom half of the bracket, South Williamsprot's Morgan Ertel plays Hughesville's Caroline Hicks with the winner advancing to take on third-seeded Dohl of Muncy.
Milton's Madison Coup will play Truc-nhu Mguyen of Central Columbia with the winner advancing for a matchup against Weis.
Wellsboro's Piper Anderegg plays Bloomsburg's Suhani Vishwakarma and the winner will face Danville's Alexa Preisz, the seventh-seed in the tournament.
Molly Dalton of Jersey Shore has a matchup with Montoursville's Bella Wanner and the winner faces Emily Crawford in the second round.
The semifinals will begin on Monday at the Central PA Tennis Center with the finals to follow shortly thereafter.
Bendle is the defending District 4 singles champion. Last year she became the first District 4 singles champion from outside of Lycoming County since Michelle Wood won the title in 2003 for Danville.
