Montoursville scored 21 points in the second quarter en route to a 35-8 win in Week 6 against Danville on the road.
Bryson Fillman scored all three second-quarter touchdowns for the Warriors. He had a 9-yard pass from Elijah Eck with 8:57 to play until halftime. Then with 2:04 to play, he reeled in a 20-yard touchdown. And with 23 seconds until the break, he again caught a pass from Eck for a score, this one from just six yards out.
In the third quarter, Fillman broke an impressive 73-yard run to put the Warriors ahead, 28-0 before Kaden Kleinman had a 52-yard run for a 35-0 lead. Danville scored with 5:47 to play with the mercy rule in effect and the game all but sealed.
Eck ended his day throwing for 154 yards and three touchdowns on 12 for 21 passing. Fillman ran it three times for 67 yards and a score and had five receptions for 56 yards and three touchdowns.
Montoursville had 419 yards of total offense to Danville's 160.
SHIKELLAMY 35, CENTRAL MOUNTAIN 22
Central Mountain's quest for its first win of the year has to wait at least another week. The Wildcats battled against Shikellamy in Sunbury, but fell to the Braves, 35-22, in Week 6.
With 3:54 to play in the second quarter, Central Mountain cut the deficit to 14-6, but that would be the closest the Wildcats came to rallying. That's when Kyle Everett had a two-yard touchdown run to make it an eight-point deficit after Shikellamy scored 14 points in the first quarter.
The Braves' built that lead thanks to a Tristan Smith 3-yard touchdown run and an Xzavier Baker-Allen 56-yard touchdown pass from Bobby Felmy.
In the third quarter, Thomas Pollock extended Shikellamy's lead thanks to having 55- and 1-yard touchdown runs to put the Braves ahead, 28-6.
With 6:19 remaining in the third quarter, Gavin Heverly gave the Wildcats a bit of a spark when he returned a kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown with 6:19 to play to trail, 28-14.
Both teams exchanged scores in the fourth. Pollock caught a 35-yard pass from FElmy for a 35-14 lead. With 4:54 to play, Heverly had a 15-yard touchdown run to make it a 35-22 deficit after a successful two-point conversion.
ATHENS 44, WELLSBORO 0
Wellsboro struggled to move the ball offensively and suffered a 44-point setback to Athens in an NTL showdown. Wellsboro collected just 58 yards of total offense while Athens gained 378, 207 of which came in the air. Connor Davidson went 11 for 17 for 148 yards and two touchdowns while Shea Davidson went 4 for 6 for 59 and a score.
Athens led 28-0 by halftime thanks to scoring three second-quarte rtouchdowns.
Dominic Robibins had a 14-yard pass from Connor Davidson in the second before Lucas Persun caught a six-yarder from Shea Davidson. Connor Davidson then ran in a four-yard touchdown for the 28-0 lead.
CANTON 20, SAYRE 7
Canton held off Sayre for a 13-point win. The Warriors led 6-0 after the first quarter and trailed 7-6 in the second when Declan Barry caught a 20-yard touhdown from BRayden Vorhis with 4:31 to play.
On Canton's ensuing possession, however, the Warriors had a 1-yard touchdown run from Aaden Dowling to go back ahead, 13-7. Canton would add eight points in the fourth thanks to a 40-yard touchdown pass from Dowling to Owen Moore.
Canton had 261 yards of total offense to Athens' 143. Moore threw for 164 and on the ground, Canton was led by Moore's 43 yards. Jaiden Ortiz and Dowling both ran for 28.
