In a high-scoring affair with a lot of offense, Lewisburg earned a 61-42 win against Loyalsock in Week 6 on Friday night. In the first quarter, the Green Dragons already held a lead against the Lancers, 21-14.

Owen Fellon of Lewisburg scored a touchdown on a run at the 5:29 minute mark before Cayden Sones of Loyalsock ran in a touchdown with 42 seconds left, as both teams exchanged scored. Unfortunately for the Lancers, the Green Dragons scored an extra touchdown, solidifying a lead that would stay for the rest of the game.

"We were working to get coverage over the top, to make sure we could isolate and take care of their primary players," Loyalsock coach Justin Van Fleet said. "But no matter what we threw at them, they were able to make plays."

Lewisburg took a 39-28 lead into the break in a second quarter that saw five touchdowns scored.

Jaylen Walker of Lewisburg scored multiple touchdowns, Sones also scored, securing 14 additional points for Loyalsock. Dyson Dupont also ran in a score for Loyalsock, underlying the value of their teamwork, as they worked together with the passing and rushing games.

At the last second, Owen Fellon scored on a 20-yard pass to Todd Dersham, which was tipped into his hands right when the clock hit all zeroes.

Van Fleet had his team reflect on the performance at the half.

"In the first half, there was a lot of what felt like backyard football. In the second half, we made a couple of adjustments to make sure we could isolate their top player. But as we went through with it, he was still able to break free," Van Fleet said

Both teams accumulated 447 yards of total offense. Lewisburg gained 301 in the air as Xavier Carter went 16 for 24 for 291 and Owen Fellon had his one pass for 20 yards. Just as effective was Dupont for Loyalsock, who went 12 for 18 for 178 yards.

"In a large part, we were trying to keep them caged in, keep them in the pocket, but the quarterback was able to skate around and make some plays," Van Fleet said.

In the third quarter, both teams continued putting up points.

Dupont found Dasyn Morse for a 34-yard pass with 10:33 to play. But just 13 seconds later, Jaylen Walker returned a kickoff 76 yards for a Lewisburg touchdown. Jaylen Walker then had a 55-yard interception return 20 seconds after that to give Lewisburg a fast 15-point burst in the span of 20 seconds.

Carter had a 26-yard touchdown strike to Drake Osunde with 7:34 to play before Cayden Sones broke a 95-yard kickoff return with 7:18 to play in the third quarter to make it a 61-42 deficit and try to give Loyalsock a spark.

"We're going to continue to work and grow and try to get a step better this coming week. There's certainly an awful lot to learn and grow from," Van Fleet said. "Not a good feeling whatsoever. But, you know, the key is for us to continue to work to improve.

Fellon had two carries for 82 yards for the Green Dragons and Carter had six carries for 25 yards. Dupont picked up yards on the ground for Loyalsock as well as he ran for 98 yards and two scores on 20 rushing attempts.
