Local roundup: Muncy’s Woodward records her 50th career goal

It took awhile, but Muncy’s Kiki Woodward broke through in the 62nd minute of Monday’s game against Mid-Penn rival South Williamsport and, in the process, reached a milestone. Woodward’s goal gave her 50 for her career, joinign teammate Ava Eyer as a 50-goal scorer as Muncy battled to a 3-3 draw with South Williamsport.
Mikaila Ganoe, Woodward and Eva Nagel all scored for Muncy. South Williamsport held a 3-1 lead after Coco Kline scored 61:16 into the game. Just 23 seconds later, Woodward put in a shot off an Eyer assist. And six minutes after that, Eva Nagel scored to tie the game up at 3-all.
Sadie Schall had a hat trick with an assist and Jessa Milbrand scored two goals and dished out an assist as Jersey Shore secured a 5-0 win against Sullivan County.
Montoursville’s Regan Aguirre scored a goal off a Kinsley Schon assist two minutes after Troy scored a go-ahead goal as the two battled to a 1-1 draw. Montoursville out-shot Troy, 17-2, in the tie.
• Three second-half goals lifted Loyalsock’s boys soccer team to a 4-0 win against Bloomsburg to improve to 9-6-1. Gabe Mauro, Wes Johnson and David Bjorkman all scored as Loyalsock also recorded an own goal.
Ethan Boyer and Mauro recorded assists as Loyalsock held a 20-6 edge in shots.
Tobin Strous scored four goals to help Milton defeat Shamokin, 5-2. Orrie Godown had a goal and assist and Strous and Gabe Heise both had assists as well.
Hughesville’s defense played well through the first 40 minutes, holding Lewisburg to just two goals, but the Green Dragons broke through with four in the second half to put the game out of reach en route toa. 6-0 win over the Spartans.
Keegan Crosby had a pair of goals while Eli Abunassar had two assists. Everett Good, Riley Gulden-Luthi, David Tling and Daedrian Campbell all had assists.
North Penn-Liberty secured a 7-1 win against Wyalusing. Liberty had five first-half goals. David Graf had two goals while Parker Jackson had a hat trick.
• In girls volleyball, Williamsport defeated Selinsgrove, 3-0 (25-8, 25-8, 25-14). Pippy Kieser had 14 serving points for the Millionaires and Jenna Schmidt added 11. Ava Fischer had a team-high eight kills, Libby Radspinner had 13 assists and Peyton Dincher added 12 assists. Kieser also led Williamsport with nine digs.
Lewisburg beat Hughesville, 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 25-10, 25-17). Claire Chandler had 29 assists with six aces, four digs and three kills and Ella Vance had seven kills, five digs, five aces and two blocks. Penelope Vonieda had eight kills, Brooke Leauber had 11 kills and Maya Bronner had six kills with two blocks.
Statistics for Hughesville were not made available.
Montoursville beat Central Columbia on its senior night, 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-19). The Warriors were led by Noelle Rzeszotarski’s 25 assists, Laney Yonkin’s 11 kills and both March Manotti and Rylee Reeder’s 16 service attempts.
Emma Ammerman had five aces for the Warriors.
Loyalsock lost a five-set exciting contest to Danville, 3-2 (25-11, 20-25, 25-10, 22-25, 15-7). Aly Hughes had a team-high 10 kills while Gia Mertes, Maddy Williams and Peyton Phillips all had four. Sophia Wetzel led Loyalsock with 12 digs, Hughes had a team-high five set assists and Sarah Hodrick had four aces.
