Following a 10-point road win on the road at Wilkes last week, Lycoming's football team returns to David Person Field at Girardi Stadium on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff for a Landmark Conference game with Juniata.
The Warriors have won two straight games to get back to .500 and Lycoming is looking to make it three in a row this week to move to 4-3.
The Warriors had success in the air and on the ground against Wilkes. Joe Lyons went 16 for 20 for 195 yards and two touchdown passes while Terrence Oliver ran it 24 times for 75 yards. Jared Zimmerman came up huge as a receiver, catching seven passes for a team-high 129 yards and caught both touchdown passes from Lyons.
The Warriors' defense limited Wilkes to 195 passing yards and 110 rushing yards. The Warriors also stopped Wilkes from capitalizing on a red zone possession.
Christon Mitchell-Brown and Louie Shank led Lycoming with seven tackles each while Khalil Johnson and Hughesville graduate Aiden Barlett each had five. Johnson and JayVon Story both had a sack, Story had a forced fumble, and Barlett and Story had two pass breakups each. Johnson also had a pair of quarterback hits.
Juniata is 2-4 this year and snapped a two-game losing skid by beating Moravian in a thriller in four overtimes, 36-34. Zachary Grande went 25 for 44 for 236 yards and a touchdown, but Moravian's defense picked him off four times. Ivan Foreman had 72 rushing yards on 23 attempts including four rushing touchdowns. Grande and Juniata did a solid job distributing the ball around as 11 players caught a pass.
Juniata struggled on third-down conversions in the win, converting just 39% of attempts (7 for 18).
Defensively, Dillon Wakefield had 12 tackles while Canyon King and Chidiire Nwokwu both had eight.
Lycoming hasn't lost to Juniata since a 14-7 setback in 2004. Since then, Lycoming has won five consecutive matchups, including beating Juniata 24-16 last fall and 45-0 in 2024.
